By The Dip (@noahattheark) The first week of the NFL is in the books, and so is week 1 of fantasy football. Unless you are in a weak 10 Owner 2RB 3WR Yahoo League, you are probably questioning a couple of your draft selections... This happens every year, to even the most seasoned fantasy owner. I know after my team is drafted, which players are unlikely to make it to the first bye weeks. You may have had a plan to keep 2 bench running backs but in week 1 there was an injury to a top-flight receiver and a rookie took over and kicked ass. So you pick up the rookie and drop your plan, this is a big risk.
Like I said earlier, I always figure 2 roster spots will rotate players every couple of weeks. I use those spots to fill my defense, kicker, and TE positions until those 3 spots bye weeks are over. Once the bye weeks are complete then you can use your bench spots for blocking other teams, pick up a few quarterbacks for fun. Here is what the master does: I am never married to any one player that was drafted after the 10th round. As long as I have two WRs on my bench with different bye weeks, then I pick up extra running backs to mix and match weekly. When my TE's bye week comes up, I drop his ass and pick up someone else. I do the same with kickers. Sometimes I do it with my defense. It just depends on how highly your defense is ranked... anything under 10th, don't hold on to them, they stink. Bottom line is, in fantasy football you cannot fall in love with a guy thinking next week is his break out week, more than likely that guy will be on the IR before he is on Sportscenter's Top Plays. So Mix It Up! |
