With the Trade Deadline approaching on Feb. 21st I have five possible trades that could happen. These percentages are strictly my opinion on how strongly I feel where these players will end up. My first player on a lot of team’s radar, J.J. Redick is the Celtics a player yes, but i have a wildcard team that may be even a better fit. The L.A. Clippers Have enough pieces to acquire Redick the question is are they willing to mess with the chemistry. Orlando wants to acquire draft picks and take on light contracts so another possibility is Chicago they need a 3pt specialist to make a run at a championship i say the Bulls are a factor as well. J.J. Redick trade possibilities: Celtics 22% Chicago 38% Clippers 15% Stays with Magic 15% Other: 10% The next candidate for trade Possibilities is Rudy Gay. The six year veteran is averaging 17.2 points per game this season and could help out numerous NBA teams for the second half of the season. i know there were rumors speculating a mega deal involving the Lakers and Celtics, which would of sent pierce to Memphis, Pau Gasol to Boston, and Rudy Gay to the Lakers, but with Rondo being hurt and the Celtics Lacking trade candidates My wildcard team is Phoenix, The suns are struggling they need a wing man to play the three spot. Jared Dudley is a Sixth Man at best and they are lacking a scorer. Rudy Gay trade possibilities: Lakers 15% Celtics 15% Phoenix 30% Stays with Grizzlies 25% Other 15% The next candidate I do not feel as strongly about him leaving but I will entertain the idea for you. Josh Smith from Atlanta could help any team in the NBA, but the asking price is astronomical which makes me believe the Hawks are not ready to part ways or they truly believe they can get the asking price of quality players and lottery picks. I can give you one team that can possibly pull this off the Dallas Mavericks, Dirk needs help Josh Smith provides scoring and defense two things they desperately need if they can unload the right pieces and give up a draft pick, who knows they might be able to land Smith. Josh Smith trade possibilities: Dallas 35% Stays with Atlanta 65% Other 5% Number four is a package deal. We heard Sacramento has been bought out and could inevitably become the Seattle Super Sonics, so where does that leave Demarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans? I believe one will go and one will stay. This one has me baffled, it seems each week its one or the other and for me to come up with an idea to which one will part ways and which one will lead the Super Sonics will have a thirty-two page list. My guess is Cousins will stay… quality big men are hard to come by and Tyreke Evans seems to run his course. Where you ask your guess is as good as mine. Tyreke Evans/Demarcus Cousins trade possibilities: ???? My last one is a shocking one for that matter. We have all heard the Rumors of the band breaking up, and that band is the Boston Celtics an unhappy Doc Rivers, a mad genius in Danny Ainge, and an aging Celtics team has a cause for concern. We all knew this day would come but not this season, right? As a fan you want KG and Pierce to retire together and ride off into the sunset, as a coach or GM you need to trade one if not both acquire what you can and hope for the best. You can acquire draft picks which we know that is where Danny and Doc do their best work, dump some of these overpaid contracts such as Courtney Lee, Brandon Bass, and Jeff Green, or you can hold on to the past and be oblivious to the situation, let it play out, and watch the Celtics be over cap and under talented. We will see this play out, and as Celtics fans we put our faith in Danny and Doc and maybe make a run at another championship in a few years. Possibility of a Celtics blockbuster: 50/50 -Stephen Moul |
