One day after traveling to Dallas only to lose in Jason Terry's lone star state return, the Celtics were looking to bounce back against the Memphis Grizzlies. Boston had been on a 3 game losing streak before taking on Memphis Saturday evening on the road. Boston would need an extraordinary effort to defeat the Grizzlies in Memphis and stop their recent losing streak. The Celtics were looking to leave Memphis with a win on Saturday evening. Boston received some good news before the game as all-star forward Zach Randolph was benched to start the game due to being tardy to practice. Memphis was also without center Marc Gasol who missed the game due to an abdominal tear. The Celtics were also missing key starters as Kevin Garnett and Courtney Lee missed the game due to injuries. Boston jumped out to a early 12-2 lead, however quickly fell behind to the Grizzlies and trailed by ten at the end of the first half. The Celtics found themselves down by as many as 21 points but fought back to tie the game late. Boston had a chance to tie the game before Jeff Green turned the ball over with 2.7 seconds left in the game. The Grizzlies defeated Boston 110-106. Zach Randolph recorded his 40th double double of the season despite not starting the game. Paul Peirce had 26 points for the Celtics in the loss. The Memphis Grizzlies swept the season series with the win over Boston for the first time in 12 years. The Celtics look to end their current 4 game losing streak with matchups against the Knicks, the Cavaliers and the Hawks this week. Tuesday's matchup against New York is on TNT and is a potential playoff preview with the Knicks and Celtics holding down the second and seventh spots in the eastern conference playoff picture.
