If you guessed that it's part of Lucas Oil field, you are sadly mistaken. This is the headquarters of the NCAA. Yes that's right- it actually exists. The running joke is that it's an empty building- just look through the windows and you won't see anybody working inside. "There's nothing wrong with taking pop shots at the NCAA," many joke, "because what do they really do?" The only time you hear about the organization is when there is a scandal involving student athletes who are getting arrested for DUIs, domestic assaults, robbery, rape and other despicable acts.
Nobody is immune to the NCAA when it comes to violations that deal with on campus problems, which covers a wide range of issues. It starts at the top with university presidents and goes all the way down through the ranks to the equipment manager. Just ask Ohio St, Penn St, Miami(FL)- the list goes on. The NCAA has an iron fist when it comes to ruling over sports in this country. The point is- I've heard outrageous rumors that the government should create an independent body ruling over college sports. So if its not the NCAA, who's already responsible for this, then who? In my opinion, the moment "big brother" gets involved in college sports, you can kiss the passion right out of some of the greatest sporting events held by this country. If you think its fixed now, you have another thing coming. Obama already stuck his nose where it didn't belong by calling for a playoff system in college football. Hello, Obama- run the country and leave college sports to the NCAA. So in the end I'll take the NCAA and it's criticisms any day over an independent government appointee. The situation calls for the classic line, "Louis, the fix is in." I don't want that and I"m sure there are plenty of true fans who don't want that it as well. I'll agree, the NCAA sucks and the buck stops with them, but better the NCAA than "big brother." The lights may be on in that main NCAA building only when a scandal comes out or student athletes are getting arrested, but better them than the government, because the depth of their corruption runs much, much deeper. |
