In Red Sox nation there is no sin more disgusting. Nothing more sacrilegious than being a long time beloved Boston star and leaving the nation to join the hated Yankees. Yet that's just what outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury just did. ESPN is reporting he and the Bronx bombers reached a deal worth $153 million over seven years. The deal raises two interesting questions.   First and most obvious it creates a huge whole in center for the Sox as well as issues at the top of the Boston lineup. The other question glaring here, is the future of Curtis Granderson in NY.

Granderson who has had a few freak health issues over the last couple of seasons appears to be out in the Bronx. Ellsbury is younger and faster than Granderson at this stage in his career.

The Yankees also gain a 50 plus stolen base man something they have been without for some time. However Ellsbury much like Granderson has had a history of injury problems. He covers a lot of ground in the outfield and is known to sacrifice his body for an out.  For that reason alone experts speculate is why Boston failed to commit to Ellsbury for that amount of dough and especially time.

For the Yankees the next step will be to come to terms with free agent all world slugger Robinson Cano. It would behove NY to invest in an arm or two especially in their rotation. Names like Bronson Arroyo and Gavin Floyd have been thrown out as possible candidates yet the Yanks have not yet come to terms with any new arms.

For Granderson the NY Daily News is reporting he may stay in NY. However in Queens instead of the Bronx. The Mets desperate for all the offensive help they can get are apparently very interested in his services.
