It' rarer than you think, yet on Sunday Cole Hamels and three relievers combined for the fourth no hitter in 2014. After a 108 pitches Hamels hit the bench However Philly's bullpen kept the no no in tact for the final nine out. "It was a whole complete effort. Most of the time when you see these sort of events it's one or two people" Hamels said after the game.

This was the first combined no hitter in franchise history and just the 10th in league history. In comparison there have been 15 perfect games n modern history.

Houston Debacle

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that Houston Astros Minor League right-handed pitcher Ruben Alaniz has received a 50-game suspension without pay after a second positive test for a drug of abuse in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

He's Dunn

Veteran slugger Adam Dunn waived a no trade clause over the weekend to join as his then current team traded him to his new squad the Oakland Athletics. The A's have struggled offensively after trading outfielder Yoenis Cespides to Boston on the July 31st trade deadline. They hope Dunn can provide the pop the A's need to get to the World Series for the first time since 1988.  Adam is currently batting .221 with 21 homers this season. The 34 year old veteran says he will retire after this season.

Yankees Add Bullpen Depth

The Yankees on Sunday acquired right-hander Chaz Roe from the Marlins in exchange for cash. The 27-year-old has been in the Minor Leagues for most of the last 10 years however he could join the big club as bullpen depth when rosters expand on Monday.

Roe has thrown just 22 1/3 big league innings, all in 2013 with the D-backs. He posted a 4.03 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 21 appearances. A first-round pick by the Rockies in the 2005 First-Year Player Draft, Roe has spent time with the Mariners, D-backs, Rangers and Marlins at the Double-A and Triple-A levels over the last five seasons.

Happy Anniversary

Last week marked 12 years since MLB.TV debuted via a postage-stamp sized media player as the New York Yankees hosted the Texas Rangers in a live video streaming event that would make digital media history. MLB.TV has rounded the bases a few times since, including delivery of HD streaming a remarkable five years ago, and has become the most widely distributed and #1 sports streaming service. The longest-running service of its kind has continued to deliver for its loyal subscribers with new innovations every season, a key reason why nearly a quarter of its current subscribers have owned the product for at least the past six years - half of MLB.TV's lifespan.
