New England Revolution became the first team in U.S. professional sports to play in 5 Championship Games without winning when they fell 2-1 to the Los Angeles Galaxy in Extra Time at the 2014 MLS Cup.
On the other side of the ball, smiles, as Galaxy won its 5th MLS Cup, and said farewell to captain Landon Donavan amid confetti and celebration. Donavan, 32, played in 248 MLS matches for the Galaxy, and scored 112 times.
Scoreless at halftime, LA jumped on the board in the 52nd minute with a strike by Forward Gyasi Zardes.
The Revs fired back in minute 79 with a goal by Defender Chris Tierney off a Patrick Mullins assist.
