The trade comes one day after the Ducks announced defenseman Eric Brewer, acquired last week from the Tampa Bay Lightning, will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken foot.
It is likely that defenseman Jon Merrill will replace Larsson in the lineup. Merrill has missed the past 14 games with an upper-body injury. Lamoriello said the Devils may recall a forward from the team's American Hockey League affiliate to replace Elias.
