By Johnny Sunchips Tom Brady; New England's adopted son... our golden boy! He is the one athlete who should never, EVER have to pay his own tab at any bar or restaurant in this region for as long as he walks this planet. But it's about time that he grows up a bit. I absolutely get it! He embodies all there is about being a "Patriot", both on and off the field! He is a relentless competitor and ultimate team-first player, who leads a life that makes most men boil over with jealous envy! Fans, both men and women adore Tom Brady, and see number twelve as a politician in a football uniform. If you've heard a portion of any of his press conferences, you get what I am talking about. The Future Hall-of-Famer's recent comments regarding former teammate Aaron Hernandez were exactly what you would have expected him to say: "My job is to play quarterback, and i'm going to do that the best way I know how, because I owe that to my teammates regardless of who is out there on the field with me. I have moved on." ~Tom Brady But this time, it's different. The Hernandez situation is somewhat of social concern, but will also have a major impact on the gridiron. The prolific offense that once featured two All-World tight ends in Rob Gronkowski and the future "jail house" rocker Hernandez, will now have to rely on the likes of Jake Ballard, Daniel Fells and Mike Hoomanawanui to fill the void. While this core is certainly not chopped liver, it is definitely not the caliber of the aforementioned tandem.
Each practice, and every game, we will be reminded of what we had. Can you really move on from that Tom? I think not! And, unless you live in a plastic bubble, covered in tar nonetheless; I find it very difficult to believe you can simply "move on" from the news story that will continue to swirl around your beloved team until number eighty-one's fate has been determined. This story will not be going away anytime soon. And who knows if and/or when Gronkowski will return, or how effective he will be. He's been quite injury prone in his brief, yet productive career. It's different this time, Tom! On and off the field...a lot different. |
