When the story about Rutgers Basketball coach Mike Rice broke the other day, I was disgusted and outraged. There was a video involving Rice cursing, using derogatory slurs, and throwing objects at his players head and groin areas. There is a report involving Eric Murdoch the former NBA Point guard who was the assistant to Rice stating after he notified personnel on what was going on, He claims he was fired shortly after. Rice should not only be fired, he should also be prosecuted for assault. I can not fathom how anyone can go recruit in these families home and tell them how this is going to be a terrific experience for there children and as soon as he they our on the court they get assaulted. I feel sorry for the fans, families, and these athletes who did not deserve any of this. I also believe the Rutgers athletic department has to be responsible for some of this as well. A lot of these programs tend to turn a blind eye to these things and it needs to stop! I also feel as it starts from the top. they need to be more involved with the practices, have better evaluations, and hey how about an examination for these coaches. They have no problem doing it to the players, how about the coaches? -Stephen Moul |
