The San Diego Padres just keep dealing -- adding power and money to an offense which ranked last in every major category last year. And Friday, their wheels kept turning, acquiring outfield slugger Justin Upton via trade with the Atlanta Braves. The addition of Upton comes just hours after clearing their first major addition, Matt Kemp, from the Dodgers, in a deal that had been held up for more than a week amid concerns from the team physical.
The team which ranked 30th in runs scored, batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging, will now boast an outfield that features Kemp, Upton, and the 2013 AL Rookie of the Year, Wil Myers -- who was acquired earlier this week in a trade with Tampa Bay.

In today's trade, the Padres add a 27-year old corner outfielder who hit .270 in 2014 with 29 home runs and 102 RBI. He will make $14.5 million in 2015 and is eligible for free agency in 2016. According to reports, the Braves will receive LHP Max Fried, SS Jace Peterson, 3B Dustin Peterson, and OF Mallex Smith as compensation for Upton.
