After getting swept by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, PawSox look to rebound against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs with Anthony Ranaudo on the mound. Ryan Fox (@Spider_Fox87) It was a rough weekend for the Pawtucket Red Sox. They ended up getting swept by their divisional rivals, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders to drop to 71-59 and be 4 games behind the division leading Syracuse Chiefs (74-54). However the next team they were going to face was a team they had success all this season, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. Already sporting a 7-3 record against them, the PawSox looked to gain some ground in the Chiefs in the division. Game Recap The PawSox were able to score 4 runs in the 3rd inning and then 3 in the 6th inning as they went on to beat the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs 7-0 in game 1 of the series. Anthony Ranaudo went 6 innings, giving up 0 runs and 7 hits while striking out 4 to earn his 14th win of the season (his 14 wins leads the entire International League in that category). Both 2B Justin Henry and 3B Garin Cecchini each went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. In his first game since being optioned to Pawtucket, OF Jackie Bradley Jr. went 2-for-5 with a run scored and had 2 putouts while playing centerfield. Although the PawSox allowed 10 hits for the game, only 2 were extra base hits as they stranded 10 Iron Pigs on base as well. Audio Interviews After the game, Anthony Ranaudo took some time to talk with the PawSox Media. In the interview, Ranaudo talks about his performance, how he's pitching recently, his time up in the bigs, and much more. Also, PawSox Manager Kevin Boles sat down with the media to talk about his team's performance, the addition of OF Jackie Bradley Jr. to the squad, and many other topics. |
