As the old saying goes, 'All good things must come to an end'. Unfortunately today, both the PawSox's current home stand and a 5-game winning streak came to an end. In the final game of an current game homestand, the PawSox lost against the reigning AAA champions, the Columbus Clippers 5-3. It was a sloppy game to match the sloppy, muggy weather. The PawSox made two costly fielding errors that led to all 5 Clipper runs in the top of the 6th inning. Along with the errors, PawSox Hitting Coach Gerald Perry was ejected in the bottom of the 2nd inning for arguing balls and strikes with 1st Base Umpire Craig Barron. PawSox pitcher Justin Germano took the loss in this one, dropping to 4-2 for the season. He went 6 innings, gave up 5 hits, 5 runs (1 earned), and struck out just one Clipper. First Baseman Lars Anderson led the way on offense, with only one hit out of 4 plate appearances but that one hit was a solo homerun deep to right field. He also had a sacrifice RBI in the bottom of the 8th inning. The Paw Sox now go on the road for the next few series, starting a 4-game series against the Durham Bulls in Durham, NC from 5/15 to 5/18 followed by a weekend series against the Norfolk Tide at Norfolk, VA from 5/19 to 5/23. -Ryan Fox |
