By Scoop Fox Pawsox Update: It's Friday, time for your weekly PawSox Report. We are now 50 games into the season, and while the All-Star Break is still far off, we are starting to get an idea of the haves and have-nots in the International League. State of the PawRight now, the Pawsox are sitting pretty in first place of the IL North Division at 36-25, a full 3.5 games ahead of the Buffalo Bison. They are currently in the finishing off their eight game home-stand against the Charlotte Knights, a team that they swept in the 2012 Governors Cup Finals. Charlotte has won two of the three games, but the Paw Sox have a chance to split the series Friday evening. On the diamond, top prospect Bryce Brentz leads the team in at-bats (214), hits (58), home runs (10), and RBIs (39). OF Jeremy Hazelbaker leads the team in steals with 16 swipes in 19 attempts, which is also good for fifth in the league. Infielder Brandon Snyder leads the team in batting average (.304), slugging percentage at (.543), and OPS (.932). On the mound, Allen Webster leads the way for all Pawsox starters with a 5-1 record, an ERA of 3.38 with 48 strikeouts. Relief pitchers Pedro Beato and Ryan Rowland-Smith continue to shore up the bullpen. Beato is 4-1 in 18 appearances, and a 1.95 ERA, while Rowland-Smith is 3-0 in 19 games with a miniscule ERA of 0.74. Anthony Carter has been solid in the ninth inning, notching 8 saves thus far. Just VisitingMajor Leaguer Will Middlebrooks is on a 20-day rehab assignment in Pawtucket. He joined the team on June 4th and has been starting at 3rd base. Thus far, he's 4 for 9 (.444 BA) with 2 HRs and 6 RBIs in three games. Fellow Red Sox teammate Shane Victorino is also on rehab assignment down in Pawtucket, going 2-4 (.500) with 1 HR and 1 RBI in his McCoy debut. . Looking AheadDuring the weekend, the PawSox will hit the road for a quick 4-game trip to Syracuse to face the Chiefs. They return back to McCoy on June 13th to the 16th to face the Buffalo Bison. |
