Johnny Sunchips Although the marquee match up in the NBA had all eyes on South Beach, where Kevin Durant and his Oklahoma City Thunder took the hardwood opposite Lebron James and the two time defending champion Miami Heat, a more competitive showdown took place on Thursday between two longtime rivals. The Philadelphia 76ers, on a seven foot stop and pop jumper by Evan Turner, defeated the Celtics, 95-94, and in the process, leapfrogged Boston in the Atlantic Division, leaving the green in sole possession of last place. Losers of 19 of their last 22, and nary a victory since January 22nd at Washington, the futility is starting to take a toll on the pesky Celts. "Everybody needs a win and we need a win more than anybody", said Gerald Wallace. "We're starting to slide down that hill". One part of that hill is dropping them closer to the NBA cellar, the other is that any team, especially a young one like the Celtics, needs something to build on. A win seems just the thing to do so.
