The Tom Who WAS Terrific

Yes, he beat the Steelers in week 9.  Yes, his Patriots are 7-2 and atop the AFC East.  But, despite putting up huge numbers on Sunday, Tom Brady is no longer the playing like superstar we have grown accustomed to in New England.
You can blame his lack of weapons, or blame injuries, and even Aaron Hernandez; but the eyeball test doesn't lie. Tom Brady does not look like a top-of-the line quarterback anymore.

He has shown a distinct lack of poise and composure. The 3-time Super Bowl champ is forcing ill-advised passes, arrant throws, and has a visible lack of confidence.

Tom Brady's Duds

Week 2 (vs. NYJ): 19-39 * 185  yds *  1 TD
Week 5 (@CIN): 18-38 * 197 yds * 0 TD * 1 INT
Week 7 (@NYJ): 22-45 * 226 yds * 0 TD * 1 INT
Week 8 (vs. MIA) 13-22 * 116 yds 1 TD * 1 INT

The stats support the claim.  Just past the halfway point of 2013, Tom Brady has a completion percentage well below 60 percent, an all-time low.  He also is on pace to miss the 25 touchdown milestone for only the third time in his career.

The 36-year old captain has shown some glimpses of excellence.  He led the Patriots to a big win against Atlanta, and his four touchdown performance in Week 9 were reminiscent of 2007. So, while plenty of people will start to say that "Tom Brady busted the slump and is going to turn it around."

I say "Probably not."
