Wrestlemania 29 is live on pay per view this Sunday. John Cena vs. The Rock, CM Punk vs. Undertaker, and Brock Lesner vs. Triple H headline Sunday's stacked card live from Met Life Stadium in New Jersey! The Shield vs. Randy Orton, Big Show and Sheamus The Shield has left a scary path of destruction in the WWE since debuting in November 2012. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns have been as impressive as you can get and remain undefeated in the WWE. The Shield has their biggest challenge to date as they face former WWE Champions Randy Orton, The Big Show and Sheamus. Some feel these three former champions will not be able to work as a team. Many point to the Big Show as the weak link. However, I believe "The Viper" Randy Orton may be in for a heel turn and may be the one to turn on Sheamus and The Big Show. With the help of a heel turning Apex Predator, I believe in the Shield and believe this trio will remain undefeated through Wrestlemania. Chris Jericho vs. Fandango Fandango finally makes his in ring debut against former six-time World Champion and nine-time Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho. Fandango has been gaining alot of momentum against the former dancing with the stars contestant. This matchup could make or break this young superstar's career. Chris Jericho has a history of stealing the show at Wrestlemania, and is going to make Fandango wrestle at his pace. If Fandango flops on the big stage he maybe curtain jerking faster than you can say Zack Ryder. However, if Fandango can somehow defeat the former undisputed champion in his first match than Fandango just may be on the fast track to superstardom! The Miz vs. Wade Barrett Two years ago The Miz was walking in and out of Wrestlemania 27 defeating John Cena as the WWE Champion. Now the "Awesome One" is jerking the curtain on the Wrestlemania preshow on youtube as he takes on Wade Barrett for the Intercontinental Championship. Both of these superstars deserve to be on the man card and it is a crime to see them on the youtube preshow, however at least they are on the Wrestlemania card. I see the Miz making his "Mizfits" tune into the preshow as I believe he will defeat the former Nexus leader Wade Barrett and become Intercontinental Champion for the second time. Tons Of Funk & Funkadactyls vs. Rhodes Scholars & Bellas Brodus Clay and Tensia have been on fire as they get ready for Wrestlemania. The duo now known as "Tons of Funk" will teamed up with Cameron and Naomi the "Funkadactyls" to take on Team Rhodes Scholars and the recently returned Bella Twins. Survey says there may be more dancing than actual wrestling in this match. I see Tons of Funk and The Funkadactyls getting the victory over Damien Sandow, Cody Rhodes and the Bella Twins. Mark Henry vs. Ryback This matchup of two power houses should be quick but interesting. The Phrase "the irresistible force meets the immoveable object" is fitting for this match. If Ryback is able to get the "World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry over his shoulders and hits the "Shell Shock" then this match will be Ryback's to loss. This is a must win for Ryback, who was once undefeated, but has losses in quite a few pay per view matches as of late. I believe it will be "feeding time" for Ryback and he will get the victory over the former World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry. I wonder if Mark Henry's baby hand will be in attendance for this titanic matchup. Dolph Ziggler & Big E Langston vs. Team Hell No Team Hell no has been by far the best tag team in the WWE over the last six months. Kane and Daniel Bryan have put their differences aside through anger management and have become one of the best teams to hold the titles in years. However, Kane and Bryan are going to have their hands full with Dolph Ziggler and the debuting Big E Langston. I believe the power of Langston and the technical abilities of the "Showoff" Dolph Ziggler will be too much for Team Hell No to handle. It could be a big night for Dolph Ziggler. Not only do he and Big E have a good chance of walking away with tag team gold, but Ziggler still has not cashed in his money in the bank brief case which guarantees him a title shot any time he wishes. The money in the bank briefcase has never been cashed in at Wrestlemania. Ziggler could become the first superstar in Wrestlemania history to win the tag and heavyweight titles in the same night. Ziggler's manager AJ Lee may also be in line for gold as she has a future match with Divas champion Kaitlin. Jack Swagger vs. Alberto Del Rio The "Real American has reinvented his career under the guidance of his manager Zeb Colter. Swagger won the "Elimination Chamber" match to earn the right to challange Alberto Del Rio for the World Championship at Wrestlemania. Swagger has been aggressive and has taken out Alberto's manager Ricardo Rodríguez multiple times with his "Patriot Lock". I Believe Swagger will be chanting his "We The People" catch phrase with a career defining victory over Del Rio. Also, watch out for Dolph Ziggler to possibly cash in his money in the bank briefcase at the end of the match. Brock Lesner vs. Triple H "The Game" Triple H puts his in ring career on the line against the former UFC and WWE heavyweight champion Brock Lesner. Lesner made an impactful return to the WWE the day after Wrestlemania 28. He has his first Wrestlemania match in nine years as he takes on the "King of Kings" Triple H. In their first matchup at Summerslam 2012, Brock Lesner broke The Game's arm and forced the 13 time champion to tap out to the former UFC star. Lesner returns to face Triple H in a rematch at Wrestlemania 29. If the Game loses this match to Brock Lesner, then Triple H must retire from in ring competition in front of 80,000 people. I don't see the point of the King of Kings to come out of semi-retirement for Wrestlemania just to retire. I believe the Game will even the score with Lesner and find a way to win in this no holds barred match. I also believe the Spanish announce table will not survive this brutal matchup of heavy hitters. CM Punk vs. The Undertaker The Undertaker's 20-0 winning streak at Wrestlemania has become one of the greatest streaks in sports history. For the last four years the dead man has extended his streak to 20-0 with four amazing wins over Triple H and Shawn Michaels. This year the phenom puts his legendary win streak on the line against the "Best in the World" CM Punk. Punk has referred to himself as "God" as of late. His 434 day reign as WWE champion was the longest run as champ in over 25 years. This matchup has become extra personal with the death if the Undertaker's legendary manager Paul Bearer. CM Punk interrupted a tribute ceremony that the phenom had in honor of his fallen friend and stold the famous urn that Bearer carried to ringside during Undertaker's career. Punk has shown the ultimate disrespect in recent weeks by showing no regard or respect for what the urn stands for. When this match was first made I believed Punk would be the one in 20-1 and end the legendary streak of the dead man. However, Punk is playing with fire by making this match personal. CM Punk is banking on the Undertaker getting himself disqualified by infuriating the phenom. I don't believe that will happen. The Undertaker will leave the former WWE Champion resting in peace and push his Wrestlemania winning streak to 21-0. John Cena vs. The Rock For two years The Rock has owned John Cena. The People's champ returned to the WWE for his first singles match in over eight years to defeat John Cena. After Cena was defeated by The Rock in Miami last year for Wrestlemania 28 John Cena has had the worst year of his life. Not only has Cena not held the WWE championship since 2011, John became the first person to fail at winning the championship when cashing in the money in the bank contract on the 1000 episode of Raw on July 23, 2012. John Cena's nightmare year also included a divorce and being embarrassed by AJ Lee when she left Cena to join her current boyfriend Dolph Ziggler. John Cena began his year of redemption by winning the 2013 Royal Rumble. On the same night The Rock ended CM Punk's 434 day run as champion as he defeated the straight edge superstar. With Cena and Rock winning at the Royal Rumble, this put these two icons on a collision course for a rematch at Wrestlemania 29. This was the only way John Cena could get a shot at redemption and a rematch with The Rock, as last year's match in Miami was supposed to be once in a life time. The Rock has since debuted a brand new WWE championship belt and discarded the spinner belt that Cena made famous. The Rock is confident he will retain his WWE Championship; however I do not share the "Great Ones" confidence. I believe John Cena will defeat The Rock and become an 11 time WWE champion in the main event of Wrestlemania 29. However, if Dolph Ziggler does not cash in his money in the bank contract against Swagger or Del Rio, the "Showoff" may look to steal the show at Wrestlemania and cash in on the WWE Champion. -Joe Passarelli |
