Award-winning digital media outlet 990WBOB is bringing back its popular and fruitful charity drive: F-Bomb Friday. The Rhode Island-based digital media outlet will break out the swear jar in an effort to help fight cancer.
On Friday, July 30th, 990WBOB will take to the digital airwaves, tossing a giant "F-U to the FCC" when they host the fifth installment of F-Bomb Friday: Cursing for a Cause! “F BOMB is a staple of what we’re about at 990WBOB” says Station Manager Michael Sandoval “Having fun while supporting causes we are passionate about. Giving back to our community while staying true to our core values.” This year radio veteran Joe Ferro heads up the efforts, "I let enough swear words slip all the time, when I'm actually encouraged to use them and for a good cause, it's just a fun time for everyone." The event, which runs from 8 pm to 11 pm (EST), will feature celebrity cameos and listener call-ins aimed at saying the F-word as often as possible, and for good reason -- every F-Bomb equals a two dollar donation to the JoAnne Sullivan Memorial Fund. Listeners are encouraged to call in with their own profanity-laden rants after making a small donation. There will be listener giveaways and fun surprises throughout the evening. Listeners can call in during the online, coast-to-coast live broadcast through (401) 626-4665 Information The JoAnne M. Sullivan Memorial Fund was founded in 2008 by Walter, Patrick and Meaghan Sullivan, in memory and honor of JoAnne, who had recently passed away from a long, but inspiring, battle with cancer. In 10 years, we have donated over $475,000, and with the support of the Jimmy Fund Golf and Dana Faber, we will continue to do so! All of the money raised is donated directly to Dana Faber's HER-2 NEU RESEARCH FUND, and already through this fund, doctors and researchers have found a certain combination of chemotherapy agents, that when applied in treatment, is associated with a low risk of cancer recurrence and decreased side effects. Founded in Providence, Rhode Island in 2007, 990WBOB.com is an all-encompassing digital media powerhouse in the New England market. An independent media outlet, heard and read by more than 140k people each month.
