In front of a crowd of 8,678, the Pawtucket Red Sox took to the diamond to play the series finale against the Durham Bulls on a Sunday afternoon. The PawSox took the first two games of the series while the Bulls took the Saturday night game. Taking the mound for the PawSox was starter RHP Justin Haley (5-7, 3.90). The Durham Bulls decided to use a bullpen day for the Sunday game as they first went to RHP Austin Pruitt (2-0, 3.65) to open up the game for them. More than 100 members of the media and special guests joined officials with Merlin Entertainments to get the first look at the eight themed "lands" that will make up the 150-acre LEGOLAND® New York Resort at the family theme park's future site in Goshen, New York. Thousands of LEGO® bricks cascaded down resembling a waterfall revealing a 10-foot LEGO model of the entire theme park! The model is made of more than 135,000 LEGO bricks and took 20 Master Model Builders more than 1,300 hours to design and build.

With less than one month to go before the Wednesday September 12th Rhode Island primaries, much of the focus this past week has been on the candidates’ varying degrees of interest in pre-primary debates. With a massive advantage in both campaign dollars and polling numbers, Governor Gina Raimondo laughed off a question about the possibility of debating fellow Democrat Matt Brown, despite media members, Brown’s campaign and individual citizens expressing that such a debate is critical to an open democratic process and part of the Governor’s civic duty.

The smallest state in the country is sending its fifth team to the Little League World Series since 2011, as Coventry Little League beat Pittsfield, Massachusetts in the New England Regional Championship this weekend. They opened the tournament in fashion, with a 10-0 win off of a perfect game, and closed out with an insane comeback in the semifinals and a clutch home run in the championship game. |
