Last year the eyes of the college football world were on LSU. After a historic 15-0 season the Tigers captured the national title, yet in the 2020 AP polls Coach Ed Orgeron finds his team ranked outside of the top 5. College Football Impact's Pat Sullivan discusses this and more in this week's video break down where Orgeron discusses starting quarterback Myles Brennan, the depth at running back and hitting at practice. RI House Republicans to Submit Patient’s Right to Access: Designated Support Person Legislation9/10/2020 Members of the Rhode Island House Republican Caucus will submit legislation to address COVID-19 mandates that have denied access to individuals in hospitals, group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and Veterans Homes.
The fundamental right to have bedside companionship and health advocacy was denied to many during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Republican legislation will balance safety with the rights of our hospitalized, elderly and disabled patients. The purpose of this bill is to entitle all residents of health-care facilities and group homes the opportunity to designate a support person for regular, in-person visits. The policy is designed to assist facilities in balancing disease transmission protocols with the benefits of having a loved one present during a lockdown. Ryan L. Fox
Well folks, summer is almost over and in the rear view mirror. As the days start to get shorter and colder, that indicates two things: fall is coming and the pumpkin spice craze is not too far behind. However, getting an early jump on the pumpkin spice wave was Dunkin' as they had released a special pumpkin spiced based menu the other week. This included items such as the pumpkin spiced ice coffee, the pumpkin spiced latte with oatmilk (both hot and iced), the Dunkin' chai latte, and apple cider donuts and munchkins. After resisting the temptation of the pumpkin spice, curiosity got the better of yours truly as I had to try these new items on the menu. Allan Giberti
Tomorrow, many Rhode Islanders will take to the polls to vote in the statewide primaries and many more will not. I’m not talking about the whole “universal mail in ballot” sham. No one is trying to make it harder for anyone to vote, regardless of whatever the nonsensical liberal talking point of the moment is. If you are unable to vote in person you’ve always had, and still have, the option of requesting an absentee ballot. There is no reason to paper this or any other state in election ballots but I digress and that’s a completely different article. I am simply referring to the notable difference in the number of voters who turn out for primary elections versus those who vote in the general election. But that was then and this is a whole different new normal. The results of Tuesday’s primary election will begin to paint the picture of what America is really thinking. Mark Colley
The numbers aren’t close. Aggregate polling numbers from FiveThirtyEight show Joe Biden with a 7.5-point lead over President Donald Trump in November’s election, a wider and more steady advantage than what Hillary Clinton held in 2016. The news cycle doesn’t do Trump any favors. No matter how much he insists the protests and violence taking place are “Biden’s America,” it is happening after nearly four year of Trump. The economy is rebounding, but still far below pre-pandemic levels. It’s pretty clear who holds the lead in this election, and it leaves some to wonder why this campaign still matters. Hasn’t everyone already made up their minds? Is there really room to pick up votes? |
