Obama Digs a ‘Scandal’, Shades of Grey Too Hot to Handle, and Prince George Walks Out of the Cradle7/25/2014 Mary E. O'Connor Jennifer Aniston and her fiancé Justin Theroux are unable to reach an agreement on their pre-nup. Will they ever get hitched? This is an exceptionally long engagement. It can only be matched, ironically, with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Speaking of one of my favorite celebrity couples, Brangelina is making a movie, starring themselves, which she wrote and will direct. The story will focus on a married couple, will show them getting married and will most likely be set and shot in Malta, which is located off the coast of Italy. It’s also where Brad shot scenes in World War Z and reportedly developed an admiration for the area. The couple has been seen there recently and I am hoping this will be the location of their real-life wedding in addition to their film. Shooting is set to begin at the end of August. Sounds like a win to me. Also relating to Malta, the Duchess of Cambridge is expected to visit in September to celebrate their 50th year of Independence. The Royals have been busy this week. Baby Prince George turned 1 year old on Tuesday! He had a Peter Rabbit themed birthday party attended by Mum, Dad, The Middleton Family, and even Great-Granny, Queen Elizabeth at Kensington Palace. In addition to attending her Great Grandson’s birthday party, Queen Elizabeth photobombed a selfie that was being taken by tourists on Thursday in Glasgow, Scotland at the Commonwealth Games! She has that Brit sense of humor, that’s for sure! President Obama gave Prince George a Rocking Horse and a polo mallet for his milestone birthday. He’s had a busy week while on a visit to Los Angeles. Evidently, President Obama is a “Scandalholic”, aka a fan of ABC’s hit show ‘Scandal’. Ok, he may not be a Scandalholic, but he did spend time at the home of Shonda Rhimes for a fundraiser. A special guest of the evening was none other than the show’s star, Kerry Washington. More Scandal news: Portia De Rossi has been added to the cast for multiple episodes in the upcoming season, which Ellen DeGeneres announced via twitter on Wednesday. I was a fan of Portia’s during her ‘Ally McBeal’ days and I think she will be a great addition to the cast. I am counting down the days to the Season 4’s premiere, at 9 pm September 25th. The “Fifty Shades of Grey” trailer was released Thursday and frenzy has followed, as expected. Will the movie live up to the hype that the book(s) created? In my opinion, it’s a rarity when a movie equals and/or surpasses the greatness of a book. However, it seems the intent of this ‘motion picture’ is to make lots of moula and create tons of buzz. I don’t think it matters if the movie is ‘good’ – curiosity will ensure attendance, no question. The movie will be released February 14, 2015. Get ready fellas, you’re in trouble now. Making the trailer even more appealing to fans, Beyoncé remixed her smash hit ‘Crazy in Love” and is featured as background music. I am predicting this entire project will be a huge money maker for all parties involved. Beyoncé is also doing well on her tour with her hubby, Jay-Z. If you can’t afford a ticket to attend, you can view a documentary of their production on HBO, scheduled to air September 20. Unfortunately, one has to wonder if this whole ‘show’ is simply that – a show. The romantic in me hopes not, but there are more rumors of trouble in paradise. Evidently, they have hired a marriage counselor to visit with them while on tour. For those who follow reality show personalities that refuse to admit it: Kim Kardashian has been posting bikini selfies of herself nonstop on Twitter and people are getting annoyed. Nene Leakes (Real Housewives of Atlanta) went nuts on talk show host Wendy Williams for saying she defaced her Birkin Bag. Evidently, she added some designs to it for charity and Wendy neglected to mention it. Oh, and of course we must acknowledge Rhode Island’s own reality show, ‘Game of Crowns’ – I have yet to speak to anyone about it, but I do watch for scenes of Providence. Nothing says “I love RI” more than watching TV shows to see scenes you see out your own window (Remember ‘Providence’ on NBC?).
