Fly Kite Canvas: The origins of the band now known as Fly Kite Canvas can be traced back to the fall of 2009. The band performed under the name Scarlet, and quickly gained a local following with their unique sound and fresh compositions, profoundly mature for a band of such a young age. When it came time for college, rather than parting ways, the band stuck together, sacrificing their weekends for practices and gigs. Since then, their dedication has not wavered. Countless hours of writing, practicing, and performing has only strengthened the dynamic of the young quartet. Check out their Facebook page for more info. Closer Than We Appear: After forming in the spring of 2009 in the South Shore of Massachusetts to enter and perform a Goodman-penned song in our school's songwriting competition, indie-alternative band Closer Than We Appear has gone a long way. Influenced by the sounds of Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, U2, Bombay Bicycle Club, and Phoenix, but as they grow as music-listeners, the band and their music grows as well. Keep your eyes out for their full-length debut. In the meantime, check out their Facebook page. Here We Just Dream: Here We Just Dream is a band of five people who can't help but make music. They share their passion for music with anyone who is willing to listen. They love rock music. They like jazz sometimes. 4/5ths of the band love classical music. They love progressive rock and fusion. Some of them play in other bands that sound scary and pretty at the same time. If you love music you should listen to them. If you like love you should meet them. If you love life you should be their friend. Their name might be hard to remember but they'll remember you. The Rare Occasions: After making their mark on the Providence rock scene with their reputable act, The Valar, drummer Luke Imbusch and singer/keyboardist Brian McLaughlin decided to take their unmistakable sound with them to Boston. There they teamed up with bassist Jeremy Cohen and guitarist Peter Stone, and quickly began constructing a set perhaps more formidable than their last. As The Rare Occasions, these four intertwine well-crafted songwriting with an unapologetically bold sense of musicianship to bring the music to the people. Check out their Facebook page right here. The Anchors: The Anchors are an avant-garde pop rock British invasion surf punk band from Massachusetts. The group uses a dexterity only found in brothers to write vibrant songs about love. Influences that range from Elvis Presley to Mozart, George Gershwin and even supermodel Cindy Crawford, these guys should be fairly interesting to see. Check out their Facebook page for more info. As with every Monday at The Spot with 990WBOB, a great time is always guaranteed. Check out 990WBOB's Mondays On Blast page or the Mondays On Blast Facebook event page for more information on what bands will be playing in the future at the ultimate destination to kick the week off right.
