Featuring the absolute best in live New England music along with hilarious comedy hosted by Doug Key, start your week off right at The Spot on 101 Richmond Street or log on to 990WBOB.COM to listen in to the live broadcast starting at 9pm. With a wide variety of beers & mixed drinks, tasty food and excellent vibes, it's a no-brainer that The Spot is the place to be every Monday to get your weekly dose of entertainment. Check out who we have playing: Leo Lydon: This past summer Leo took quite an outrageous mission…biking from Boston to Toronto with little more than a bicycle and guitar, sketching chord progression and lyrics along the way. From this came his new release “Spoke on Spokes” which recorded in spring and came out this April. You can really feel the intensity and sense of openness, of journey on this release. A sense of travel with the sheer thrill of the unknown with multiple guitar parts intertwining into some sort of symphonic folk opus is quite refreshing to hear. Check out his website and take a look at what's to come. Jetty: Nu-disco, funk, r&b, soul and even some hip-hop encompass the sound that Jetty comprises. They know how to make you dance, make you boogie and just lose yourself in the music. Check out their website for all the info on what you need know about the band that's gonna make you go. Colourblind: The alt-rock/blues/funk trio from the hollowed grounds of Seekonk, MA and East Greenwich, RI has an intense sound that will surely blow you away. Maeghan McGuirk's subtle, amazing voice and keyboard skills, her sister Shannon's rhythmic excellence on the drums and percussion, Michael Cozzo's infectious guitar skills along with their backing vocals make up a band that is guaranteed to impress. Check out their Facebook page right here for more updates. Ants In The Cellar: Ants in the Cellar is a three-piece rock band based out of Providence, RI. The band reinvented itself in 2011 after a long hiatus with new members Anton Lund (drums, vocals) and Bill McGowan (bass, vocals) joining original member Mike Adamowicz (vocals, guitar). Ants in the Cellar draws on a variety of influences (progressive rock, blues, singer/songwriter, new wave). However, they maintain alternative rock roots, with many of their primary influences coming from the diverse collection of indie rock bands that proliferated the “left of the dial” radio scene of the late eighties/early nineties. As with every Monday at The Spot with 990WBOB, a great time is always guaranteed. Check out 990WBOB's Mondays On Blast page or the Mondays On Blast Facebook event page for more information on what bands will be playing in the future at the ultimate destination to kick the week off right.
