Six-time Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins has been traded by the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for undrafted tight end Tim Wright and one draft pick, according to sources. Mankins, 32, was the Patriots' first round draft selection in 2005, and has played in New England for his entire nine-year career. Mankins signed a contract in 2011 worth $51 million for six years. Wright, 24, went undrafted in 2013, and signed with the Buccaneers as a rookie free agent last April. He originally played Wide Receiver at Rutgers under Greg Schiano, who served as his first professional coach. Wright transitioned to Tight End in Training Camp 2013, and excelled in his rookie season, putting up 571 yards from 54 receptions, resulting in 5 touchdowns. At 6'4" and 220 lbs., Wright fills a much needed hole at the Tight End position in New England, joining Rob Gronkowski and Michale Hoomanawanui. |
