Hello to all PawSox fans. Welcome to another edition of the PawSox Weekly Notebook, the guide for all those who want to know what’s going on with their favorite local baseball team. Unfortunately for the PawSox, time is running out. With the end of the season a little over two weeks away, the competition is starting to pull away. Can the PawSox keep up or will they be left out for a second year in a row? What was initially concern for the safety of athletes in Brazil, the Ryan Lochte Rio Robbery saga has played out in the media over the last week, and quickly devolved into a tall tale told by a group of drunk swimmers at a gas station.
While elements of the four-time gold medalists story were true, it was the false elements that caused concern -- and near international incident -- in the revocation of passports from members of the Lochte clan, as the titular character fled safely to the U.S. Friday, however, Lochte came clean, admitted that he had embellished in his recount of the events of August 14, and offered an apology for his actions. Read Lochte's Instagram apology below This week’s game will be broadcast by the Patriots Preseason Television Network on Thursday, August 18 at 8:00 PM ET and can be seen in every New England state, as well as Alaska and Hawaii.
The preseason network’s flagship station is WBZ-TV CBS in Boston. WBZ-TV’s Dan Roche provides play-by-play and is joined by former Patriots tight end Christian Fauriain the broadcast booth. Former Patriots linebacker Matt Chatham will provide sideline analysis along with WBZ-TV’s Steve Burton. Patriots Football Weekly’s beat writers Paul Perillo and Andy Hart will also provide insight and analysis. The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced today that two Minor League players have been suspended following their violations of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

Hello to all PawSox fans. Welcome to another edition of the PawSox Weekly Notebook, the guide for all those who want to know what’s going on with their favorite local baseball team. Things are heating up right now at McCoy and I’m not talking about just the temperature. With less than a month left in the 2016 MiLB Triple-A season, the PawSox have clawed their way into the Governors’ Cup playoff race. Although there are some stalwart teams ahead of them (Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders, Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, Rochester Red Wings), that won’t stop this team from trying to get back into the postseason. Less than a week ago, Johnston, R.I., featherweight Joe Pingitore spoke about his desire to one day climb to the top of the rankings in the northeast and perhaps headline a future CES MMA fight card.
He'll get his chance much sooner than anticipated. Originally scheduled to fight Bill Jones Friday night on the main card of "CES MMA 37" at Twin River Casino, Pingitore (6-2-1, 2 KOs) will now face the region's top 145-pounder, Matt Bessette (19-7, 5 KOs) of Stafford Springs, Conn., in a five-round bout for the vacant CES MMA Featherweight Title, one of three title fights airing live on AXS TV.

Forget everything you think you know about Alex Rodriguez, his unapologetic narcissism, his steroid use or his subsequent year-long suspension from Major League Baseball. What we saw Sunday at Yankee Stadium had nothing to do with business or A-Rod’s on-field performance (or lack thereof). This was personal. The Yankees have been looking to stick it to A-Rod since Major League Baseball suspended him for the entire 2014 season for what it deemed “overwhelming evidence” that Rodriguez not only illegally obtained performance-enhancing drugs from the now-defunct Biogenesis lab, but also sought to hinder the league’s investigation into those allegations. It was a beautiful day this past Sunday down at McCoy Stadium. After bashing the visiting Buffalo Bisons 8-2 on Friday, the Pawtucket Red Sox looked to take them on in a Saturday evening matchup. However mother natured had other plans and washed the game, along with left field, the backstop, and the BBQ pit. So on Sunday, the McCoy faithful were treated to an old-time classic of a midday double header.

July 31 is a date on the calendar that baseball fans mark with a red mark. It’s the MLB Trade Deadline. At 4 p.m. Eastern Time, all 30 MLB teams have to put in their final trade offers otherwise the league office will null and void them. However what the casual baseball fan doesn’t know is that specific deadline is for non-waiver trades (i.e. you can trade a player on your roster for any player, cash consideration, or a bag of balls with no hassle). Teams can still make trades after July 31 but those trades are considered ‘Waiver Wire’ trades (i.e. trades that involve players who cleared waivers). The deadline for that is August 31. Parente & Pal WBOB's far most explosive sports minds once again unite to tackle a hot topic. Major League Baseball's trade deadline has come and gone with more excitement and moves then in recent years. The Yankees are sellers? The Twins buyers? Get caught up with the info you need to sound like a pro. Parente & Pal breakdown this year's deadline winners & losers in this sports Bobcast short.
