Providence, R.I. - Award-winning digital media outlet 990WBOB (www.990wbob.com) is breaking out the swear jar in an effort to provide stable housing for homeless and at-risk veterans.
On Friday, May 8th 990WBOB will take to the digital airwaves, tossing a giant F-U to the FCC when they host F-Bomb Friday: It's Time to GIVE a F**K!
"The F-word may be obscene to some, but we find it far more obscene that many of our nation's brave heroes fail to receive the support they undoubtedly deserve," said WBOB Director of Content Kevin Aherne. "This event is in good fun, and in support of a fantastic cause."
The event, which runs from 8 pm to 11 pm (EST), will feature celebrity cameos and listener call-ins aimed at saying the F-word as often as possible, and for good reason -- every F-Bomb equals a two dollar donation to Operation Stand Down Rhode Island (www.OSDRI.org).
Founded in 1993, OSDRI is a non-profit organization offering assistance to individuals or veteran families, including permanent and transitional housing, intensive care management, food and clothing, in addition to employment training and placement programs.
The event is part of a month-long campaign in May to raise money for OSDRI and to promote awareness of such an important cause.
“We’ve chosen OSDRI because we recognize their hard work and efforts and we’d like to support such a terrific organization right here in Rhode Island,” said 990WBOB General Manager Adam Palazio . “The purpose is to celebrate our veterans and give back to those who sacrifice everything for our liberties.”
Listeners are encouraged to call in with their own profanity-laden rants after making a small donation. There will be listener giveaways and fun surprises throughout the evening. Listeners can call in during the online, coast-to-coast live broadcast through (401) 626-4665.
