When you think of giant, long-term contracts in sports your mind tends to go into the world of baseball. That’s where you normally would see giant contracts in the hundreds of millions of dollars over long term deal, including multiple players just this past offseason getting 10-year deals worth over $300+ million. But this past Tuesday, the sports world stopped and did a double take at the news coming out of Kansas City, Missouri. On that day, it was announced that the Kansas City Chiefs and their star QB Patrick Mahomes came to terms with a new contract extension. It would be for 10 years and for a whooping $450 million with incentives that could push the total amount to over $500 million. Allan Giberti
When I wrote Why an Unhinged Liberal Will Never Have an Honest Debate back in February of this year I of course received some criticism from several unhinged liberals telling me that not only was I wrong but I was a racist, self-loathing homophobe. End of story. No discussion and no debate allowed. When you take into consideration that I am the product of immigrants that came to America legally and that I’m gay, this racist, self-loathing homophobe had a good laugh with the name calling and shutting down of any chance of a conversation. I would like to thank all the unhinged liberals for proving my point. Again. Ryan L. Fox
In 2007, the New England Patriots were caught illegally filming the New York Jets during their Week 1 match-up of that same year. Dubbed as ‘SpyGate’, the Patriots were found guilty and had to pay a $1 million fine as well as forfeit their 1st-round pick in the 2008 NFL draft. Fast forward 12 years to 2019 as history seemingly repeated itself. Only this time around, the Patriots were caught filming a game they were not participating in. Rather it was a game between the Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Bengals, the latter of the two the Patriots were going to be playing the following week. This little incident would put the Patriots back into the negative spotlight as it would then be latter dubbed as SpyGate 2.0. Mark Colley
Finding housing as a university student is hard. I speak from personal experience. In January of this year, I began the search with three of my friends for a place to live come September. It’s an intimidating process to enter and spearhead as teenagers that know nothing of how housing works. There are a number of impossible stipulations and complicating factors. While the lease starts in May, you won’t be living in this space until September. What if a roommate drops out? Is the apartment or home in close proximity to campus via public transportation? How does the landlord feel about students, or about parties? Pat Sullivan
Sometimes it takes just one person to create a movement, and while many were involved in the state of Mississippi voting to change their flag and remove the Confederate battle emblem on it, Mississippi State running back Kylin Hill may have had the biggest voice. The leading returning rusher in the SEC publicly stated he would not be returning to football activites until there were changes. On June 28th the state senate voted to approve the removal of the emblem on the flag. |
