Evan Mckay Ooo boy..where to start with this one. This movie was bad. Not as bad as Battleship, but still really bad. The only two redeeming qualities, at all, were the "R" rating and how thankfully short it was. Not even the lovely Eva Green could turn this flat, awful, bloody movie into anything near a success.

I had the pleasure of seeing My Goodness play the Fête Lounge last week, supporting Augustines on their national tour. I had never heard of them before, but I was hooked, and liked them enough to buy their 2011 debut self-titled LP, which hasn’t left my turntable in two days. This was their first-ever national tour, and their first time playing in New England, so none of us really knew what to expect. My Goodness won the crowd over with their raw, bluesy sound and commanding stage presence. They sounded like The Black Keys, but with faster tempos and more impressive drumming, provided by Andy Lum. Ok. I am not the best stealth gamer, I never have been. I use decades of experience and cat-like gamer reflexes to lay my foes low in highly skilled martial combat. I run headlong into battle until I defeat my foes. I am just being honest! That being said, Thief 4 is one of the worst games I have played in a long time. Bob Giusti
During our last broadcast of The Franchise (Monday eve 8-10 PM), it was refreshing to co-host and play an evening of local and regional music collected at The Midday Social. It is a testament to the important role of music in our society that so many artists venture into the world of recording and live performance, but it is also a challenge to those same individuals to be heard. Dan Martin Hey all, we talked about the closing of Catch A Rising Star Providence in Lincoln, RI previously on The Comic's Corner. We have been tracking their progress and are proud to announce that they are moving. RI's own Frank O'Donnell, a staple in the comedy community, will be with us in Studio on Wednesday 3/5 LIVE on the Air 8pm to discuss the changes in venue and the long figurative and literal roads his comedy has traveled. 3 out of 5 stars
By Dan MacKnight I first heard Young the Giant on my 21st birthday, when they opened for Dispatch at TD Garden for Dispatch’s reunion tour. They were touring on their debut self-titled album, and their live show was on-point. I was hooked on their album. I enjoyed each individual song, and I couldn’t wait to hear what they came out with next. Well, about three years later (which felt like an eternity), they finally released Mind Over Matter. It has been a busy few weeks for both the Comic's Corner Crew and Comedy itself. Crack open another crisp cool Comedy On Us Vol 23! We will cover some great local events and find out what has been going on in the providence comedy club scene. As well as what has been going on with the Crew here at the Corner. Let's dive in! Actor Scott Wilson shared his experiences and insight about The Walking Dead, this week on The Cafe. He talks openly with 990WBOB's Pal about the series popularity and ever growing sub culture that has stemmed from the show.
"I went into thinking if the show falls off, they'll blame me" Wilson said, when asked about his initial impression of joining the show. Alicia@990wbob.com For those of you who tuned in to last weeks episode of Raw Sex, Our guest was erotica writer Lana Fox. As I mentioned on the show, I was first introduced to Lana's work around December of last year. Tamsin Flowers was doing a 12 days of erotica (or something to that effect) and each day she displayed a new piece of erotica by a different writer. For some reason, the day I landed on the website, Tamsin was displaying an excerpt from Femme Fetale, a story titled: Smart Folks Won't Screw Witless Girls, which happened to be Lana's work. Pal
This week's edition of the dead to say the least, left the audience scratching their heads. Suggested by many of it's loyal fans, to be one of the worst episodes in the series history. Fans took to Twitter and other social media avenues to express their boredom. Most anticipated a beginning of a love story between the only two characters featured this week, Beth (Emily Kinney) & Daryl (Norman Reedus), yet somehow I'm sure that's not what the writers were going for. |
