Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that the studio has brought together an extraordinary number of iconic video game companies, whose classic characters – including PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Centipede®, Galaga, Frogger, Q*bert, and Space Invaders – will be featured in the highly-anticipated action comedy Pixels, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, and Brian Cox, and directed by Chris Columbus. The film will be released on May 15, 2015.
In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (James) has to call on his childhood best friend, ’80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Dinklage and Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Monaghan plays the team's unique weapons specialist. The action-comedy is directed by Chris Columbus from a story by Tim Herlihy and a screenplay by Tim Herlihy and Timothy Dowling, based on the original short film of the same name by Patrick Jean. The film is produced by Adam Sandler, Chris Columbus, Mark Radcliffe, and Allen Covert. Executive Producers are Barry Bernardi, Michael Barnathan, Jack Giarraputo, Heather Parry, Tim Herlihy, Steve Koren, Patrick Jean, Benjamin Darras, Johnny Alves, Matias Boucard, Seth Gordon, and Ben Waisbren. The film, a Columbia Pictures presentation in association with LStar Capital, is a Happy Madison / 1492 Films production in association with One More Production. Anheuser-Busch barley growers have new neighbors – and those farmers are in China, Brazil and France. SmartBarley, a global barley bench marking program, rolled out in Conrad, Mont. and Idaho Falls, Idaho on July 17-18 as part of annual Grower Field Day events.
More than 500 local growers and their families enjoyed a BBQ lunch, took tours of barley malting facilities and crop test plots, saw demonstrations of growing and brewing processes, and were introduced to the expanded SmartBarley pilot, which aims to generate higher crop yields while increasing water efficiency. Men have a fascination, perhaps even an obsession. It's a buzz word, a Pavlovian placebo used to get the beer drinking men folk all riled up. There's an entire lucrative subsection of online entertainment dedicated to this Shangri La, this forbidden dream. You can even pay extra for it at the appropriate gentlemen's establishment. Lesbians. What is it about twenty somethings and testosterone sapped married men, and the love of lesbians? They don't want to have sex with you. They don't want to have sex for your voyeuristic pleasure. Yet still, the mere mention of the word sends men into a frenzy of erotic waking wet dreams. I mean, the porno threesome with two smoking hot chicks seems like a swell night out. But that's rarely the reality, and I don't think those girls generally count as genuine lesbians. Then again, I never got my rule book in the mail, so what do I know, right? So let me debunk the lesbian fantasy myth once and for all, because Charlie Valentine has gone where few men have been privileged enough to travel.

You know Newport is about to celebrate another fine Folk Festival this weekend and if you have the tickets and time to kick it, you surely will have a memorable experience. But for those of you who can't afford the ticket, or are stuck in weekend work hours, (or maybe like their music louder) local promotions company Intrinsic Events has a rocking alternative this Sunday at Fete. A taste of American Roots Rock featuring five blistering sets of music starting at 4:00 PM (headliners Nashville Pussy are scheduled for 10:00 to appease the Monday morning worker) plus on site BBQ, pinup girls and hotrods and motorcycles on display. All of this is billed as a pre-party for the infamous 2014 edition of Milltown Hotrod Rock in Roll show (August 1st and 2nd) in Sturbridge. Jennifer Aniston and her fiancé Justin Theroux are unable to reach an agreement on their pre-nup. Will they ever get hitched? This is an exceptionally long engagement. It can only be matched, ironically, with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Speaking of one of my favorite celebrity couples, Brangelina is making a movie, starring themselves, which she wrote and will direct. The story will focus on a married couple, will show them getting married and will most likely be set and shot in Malta, which is located off the coast of Italy. It’s also where Brad shot scenes in World War Z and reportedly developed an admiration for the area. The couple has been seen there recently and I am hoping this will be the location of their real-life wedding in addition to their film. Shooting is set to begin at the end of August. Sounds like a win to me. |
