Pal - Pal@990WBOB.com It's amazing what spawns from a simple hour of television. Well in this case a zombie apocalyptic hour of programming. The Walking Dead (set to return with new episodes Feb 9th) is set to release their own brand of survival kit. Most shows have action figures, or collectible card sets, not this show. It's not enough to transport people all be it briefly into a different world each week. They want you to be prepared. There's nothing like the wild, wonderful realm of the World Wide Web. You can find anything--and I mean anything--on the Internet. From rare collector's items to sexual fetish groups, you can get whatever it is you need and desire online. This has made for some interesting developments in dating and hooking up. No longer are we confined to bars when we want to pick someone up, because a simple search on Craigslist or creating a profile on Plenty of Fish can easily get us dates. According to the Daily Mail, these sites can also get us the sex we desire with no strings attached. However, there are many negatives that come with exploring the Web for our dating needs. Here is a look at some of the positive and negative aspects of finding romance and sex on the Internet. Dan Martin
Welcome to Comedy On Us Vol: 17! We are very excited to bring you our show this and every week and these are the types of things we have been up to on the WBOB Airwaves and Tubes. It's going to be an exciting latter half of the week. Tune in below for details. -See you out there Rob Duguay When it comes to bands always striving to stay away from the norm without leaving their roots behind, look no further than punk act Against Me!. The band has had a wild few years with lineup changes, label shifts and the transformation of frontman Tom Gabel into frontwoman Laura Jane Grace during the summer of 2012. The latter is the main focus of Against Me!’s sixth studio album Transgender Dysphoria Blues along with Laura’s dealing with the death of a young friend and a brand new sense of self-discovery. Along with sending out a revolutionary message in dealing with a subject that the status quo are afraid to talk about, musically the album is as punk rock as it gets. Emphatic, abrasive and even some tinges of old-school style rock & roll are abundant on the album, it’ll light a fire in your soul that’ll never go out. The Sexual Intellectual - Alicia@990WBOB.com Most of us as humans enjoy variety. No one drinks the same coffee EVERY DAY, eats the same exact meal everyday. Hell! Most of us don't want to look at the same people everyday. Yet when it comes to the bedroom we all want monogamy, fidelity, and loyalty. There is a switch between our hearts, minds and loins that lack communication. When I entered into my first long term relationship, I thought to myself am I ok with this being the only man I have sex with for the rest of my life?!?! I almost gave myself a panic attack! That sounded horrible, yet...
George Goner A new location this week: No longer at the landfill, with its prowling coyotes, strange odors, and the feeling I'm driving my patrol vehicle around the surface of a gigantic, many-layers-deep tomb of generational garbage. Or perhaps even a literal tomb, of human remains pickled and fermented in toxic waste, left over from the days here in Rhode Island when we played host for years to one of the most powerful crime families in America. All those dismembered informers, all the corpses left over from political infighting, all the borrowers who didn't pay their debts on time- they had to go somewhere. But now I have a new assignment. We am return! Dan Martin

I recently decided to watch a modern remake of a classic horror movie, Stephen King's Carrie. The movie [Carrie (2013)] had an excellent cast and smart filmmakers behind it, so I was optimistic. Besides, I'm not one of those people who whines about remakes. In fact, I like the idea of taking a classic movie and reintroducing it to a younger audience. There is no problem with filming a remake, the problem is with HOW they are filmed or to be honest, how most movies are being made today, especially in the horror genre. Horror movies, more than any other genre rely heavily on tone and style in order to really captivate an audience or create content that sticks with them long after the credits have rolled. When is the last time a scene in a horror movie made your hairs stand up and your skin crawl? Sure, the newer ones can probably give you a few scenes where you jump when the music gets loud or a person jumps out from behind a wall but that effect doesn't stick with you. If anything it makes you chuckle with your buddies afterwards. "Oh man, you're such a girl! Did you see how far he jumped?" Laughter... Not a good sign you've made a scary movie. When I think about the movies that have lasted through the years and continued to terrify audiences from generation to generation, there are a lot of key elements that have somehow been forgotten by modern filmmakers, including the ones who made the remake I watched... Which, by the way, was awful. So here is a list of things modern horror movie directors should take into account: |
