DON'T MISS: WBOB's 2nd Annual F-Bomb Friday - Cursing for a Cause

Providence, R.I. - Award-winning digital media outlet 990WBOB (www.990wbob.com) is bringing back its popular and fruitful charity drive: F-Bomb Friday. The Rhode Island-based digital media outlet will break out the swear jar for the second year in an effort to bridge the gap between veterans and civilians to build a community of support.

On Friday, May 20th, 990WBOB will take to the digital airwaves, tossing a giant "F-U to the FCC" when they host the second annual F-Bomb Friday: Cursing for a Cause!

In 2015, 990WBOB was able to reach its goal of $990 in donations in less than three hours. The event, hosted by several BOBCast(TM) personalities, featured guests including celebrities, sports heroes, and most importantly, American veteran heroes.

"The F-word may be obscene to some, but we find it far more obscene that many of our nation's brave heroes fail to receive the support they undoubtedly deserve," said WBOB  Director Kevin Aherne. "This event is in good fun, and in support of a fantastic cause."

The event, which runs from 8 pm to 11 pm (EST), will feature celebrity cameos and listener call-ins aimed at saying the F-word as often as possible, and for good reason -- every F-Bomb equals a two dollar donation to the veteran's charity, 22Kill, which seeks to raise awareness to the suicide epidemic that is plaguing our country, and educate the public on mental health issues such as PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury.

About 22Kill

Honor Courage Commitment, Inc. started the #22KILL movement in 2013 after learning about the staggering statistic that an average of 22 veterans are killed by suicide every day. Honor Courage Commitment, Inc. (HCC) committed to researching and understanding the genesis of this epidemic, and educating the general public on the issue. #22KILL was a platform to raise awareness not just towards veteran suicide, but also to the mental health issues that can lead to suicide. These issues stem primarily from conditions such as PTS and TBI, and struggles of transitioning out of the military.

The solution is veteran empowerment. One of the biggest challenges veterans face is finding a sense of purpose after service. #22KILL directly supports HCC’s veteran empowerment programs that help veterans maximize their talents and understand their value outside of the military. #22KILL also continually provides support for other nonprofit organizations, community events and project.

In July 2015, 22KILL officially became its own 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Although legally separated from HCC, both organizations continue to work closely together to continue the mission of awareness and empowerment.

Creating opportunities for our veterans

“We’ve chosen 22Kill because we recognize their hard work and efforts and we’d like to support such a terrific organization involving America's real heroes,” said 990WBOB General Manager Adam Palazio. “The purpose is to celebrate our veterans and give back to those who sacrifice everything for our liberties.”

Listeners are encouraged to call in with their own profanity-laden rants after making a small donation. There will be listener giveaways and fun surprises throughout the evening. Listeners can call in during the online, coast-to-coast live broadcast through (401) 626-4665.
