I always love it when a band produces a sound that is extremely ground-breaking while at the same time every song is groovy as hell or has the ability to soothe the soul, making your head bob up and down to every beat and note. Diamond Doves' debut album Eat Your Heart Out encompasses the most unique rock & roll you'll ever hear, combining sexy glam, r&b, electro-folk and post-rock that will have you hooked right from the start. A fantastic album that is very wide-ranging, no track sounds the same but they each have a special quality that you can't ignore.

If you don't know who Diamond Doves are, they are a trio comprised of multi-instrumentalists Nick Kinsey, Wyndham Boylan-Garnett and Brigham Brough with all three on vocals. Other than the main trio the album includes folk-rock musician Elvis Perkins on harmonica, The Low Anthem's Mike Irwin on trumpet and a horn section including Steven Bernstein, Curtis Fowlkes and Marcus Rojas. The horns make a huge difference with making each song being able to stand on their own. All of these amazing talents coming together to make a spectacular album makes Eat Your Heart Out is a true musical treasure that shows how originality can come from the diversity of others.

Here's that part of the blog again, where I pick my favorite songs off of Diamond Doves' debut album. It's never easy, even though the songs off of Eat Your Heart Out do have the power to put your mind at ease. It's like picking my favorite cup of coffee or my favorite way to have macaroni & cheese. Enough with the trials and tribulations, here goes something:

The title track "Eat Your Heart Out" is an epic track full of somber piano notes and emphatic rhythms from the horn section that will put you in a state of pure bliss. "Drop The Nickel" flat out rocks, definitely the hardest song on the album that is filled with powerful guitar riffs. "Royal Flush" sounds like a stripped down disco song, the bass lines and Brigham's voice will take over your inner being and make you want to shake your hips. "You Infect My Body" is very orchestral but at the same time has a 60's pop feel that makes me think that if Mozart and The Box Tops somehow collaborated through the space-time continuum they would have made a similar song. Don't just take my word on just a handful of songs, every song on Diamond Doves' Eat Your Heart Out is simply spectacular.

Diamond Doves will be doing a mini tour to celebrate the release of their debut with Tallahassee and Last Good Tooth starting at The Bowery Electric in New York City on January 31st, The Columbus Theatre in Providence on February 1st and then at Great Scott in Boston on February 2nd. If you're in the neighborhood, go to the show and grab a copy of Diamond Doves' debut album Eat Your Heart Out. It gives rock & roll a whole new definition.

This unaired cartoon is quite rude

Holy S***!  Just when I thought I knew everything about my wonderful nostalgic cartoons I grew up with, this came out.  Adult Swim, the late night counterpart of Cartoon Network, has released an unaired episode of the hit show Dexter's Lab.  In this episode, Dexter invents a machine (no surprise) meant to remove her sister's "rudeness."  But something goes wrong, as expected, and both their negative attitudes made rude clones of themselves.  And the result, well, the number of bleeps explain why the censors pulled the episode.  It's crazy, considering there was an episode of Spongebob where where there was swearing that was censored by dolphins.  Not to mention Cow & Chicken has a character who's literally a pantsless devil.

Rob's Album Of The Week: Ravi Shavi

Over the past year and a 1/2, Providence post-everything revolution rock & rollers Ravi Shavi have been burning up the music scene like wildfire. During the summer of 2012, Ravi Shavi played in front of a near packed house at The Met in Pawtucket during the Deer Tick curated music festival DudeSmash in June and then they followed it up by playing the Friday edition of The Newport Folk Festival's after parties at The Newport Blues Cafe in July. Playing those two huge shows and being one of the most energetic bands out there today, Ravi Shavi are well on their way to being a household name. Their debut self-titled record coming out this week should further them towards their destiny because it's infectiously amazing.

Led by the electrifying enigma known as Rafay Rashid on guitar and vocals along with Ben Tucker keeping the rhythms on drums, Bryan Fielding plucking the bass and Nick Politelli backing up Rafay on guitar, Ravi Shavi combines the raw sound of old-school garage rock, the essence of punk, the gleam of doo-wop and the flamboyance of glam without the makeup to create a brand of rock & roll that will make you dance and shake your hips right from the first strum. Rafay is the lifeblood of the band with the way he moves like a young Iggy Pop while having the confidence of a Lou Reed-type by serenading on the microphone as if he was a beat poet. The debut album provides an excellent display of the emphatic sound of their live performance as well, if you don't start going absolutely crazy and bust a move right when you listen to the first track I don't know what will.

Every week, this is the part of this piece of music journalism that is the moment of truth. It shouldn't be that much of a surprise to you since I've been writing this blog for over a year now and hopefully you found enough gumption within yourself to waste your time by at least reading one of my album reviews. But hey, it's time for me to tell you my favorite tracks off of Ravi Shavi's self-titled debut. It's never easy, in a strange way it's kind of like paying your taxes but this time the money (in this case, my mental anguish) is going to something you absolutely love. Where do I begin? anyways, here goes something:

"Indecisions" starts off with one of my favorite lyrics of all-time: "You're out of my league, I'm in my element, come home with me, just for the hell of it". This song is so pristine and groovy that every time I listen to it I always get a little hop in my step and I shuffle my feet like a madman. "Bloody Opus" is only a minute and a 1/2 long but it kicks, the ultimate rock & roll party song of the 21st Century. "Local News" is all about Rafay's criticism of mainstream media, how it's the same old crap and it never changes. Unlike mainstream media, the track is never dull, it will give you that strange feeling in your legs and you'll be cutting a rug in no time. Don't just take my word on just a few, every track on Ravi Shavi's debut is simply exquisite.

Ravi Shavi will be celebrating the release of their debut with Atlantic Thrills, The Rice Cakes and Napoleon at Firehouse 13 on 41 Central Street in Providence this Saturday on January 26th and you better go to experience 4 dynamic bands that will guarantee a spectacular time. They're bound to hit your friendly neighborhood music venue sometime soon, but until then grab a copy of Ravi Shavi's debut and blast it through your speakers like there's no tomorrow.

So the Democrats, excuse me I mean the Progressives, excuse me,  I mean the Globalist Communist party, want to disarm America and throw the Constitution out the window via Executive Orders.  (That Trick will be used Against the Liberals in the Future.)

So lets look around the globe at countries with restrictive gun laws that leaves the public defenseless against thugs and its'  government. Example are Iran kills homosexuals by hanging- Syria government kills its own citizens - Chicago were hoods kill lawful citizens, so I ask myself what happens once the USSA strips away the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution, what can go wrong?

So what can go wrong so I browsed and found this article about Gun Control in the UK?

Violent crime worse in Britain than in US
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-25671/Violent-crime-worse-Britain-US.html#ixzz2ILM2tJRK

So what can go wrong so I browsed and found this article about Gun Control in the Australia?

Since Australia banned Guns Violent Crime has increases these crimes were committed in GUN FREE ZONES so the Thugs have NO RESISTANCE on their killing sprees.

EQUALITY CONTROL

1/18/2013

You may have heard rumors that there is a debate underway in our country. People say that it is an intellectual, ethical, and spiritual dilemma which has embroiled our greatest minds in a turbulent battle between conflicting ideas. Ask anyone and they will tell you that the nation is divided between two camps: those that think guns are dangerous and those that are too stupid to know that guns are dangerous. But in actuality that is not a debate at all. In fact the debate about “gun control” is not really about guns…

The real debate is about Equality and Civil Rights. You might assume that President Obama is the physical embodiment of those concepts, but he has proven to be in direct opposition to them. The foundation of his political philosophy is Inequality - implied by the establishment of a management class which is necessary to oversee the wonderfully contrived economic utopia. To properly serve the “public interest” one has to elevate the right people to positions of extraordinary powers and to limit the powers of the wrong people. This will ensure that society will function efficiently and “fairly”. Of course the "public interest" is almost entirely subjective, varying from person to person, and is actually nothing more than a particular personal interest being forced on the public – but that’s not important right now since the real topic is gun violence.

We are told that Civil Rights…oops, I mean “guns”…are dangerous when the wrong people have them and are not so dangerous when the right people have them. The management class shall make these decisions for us and will protect us from Equality when it becomes dangerous. Those people who are duly authorized shall become part of a new warrior class and shall have the right to possess and use particular guns which those in the less important categories of society shall not. Our politcal leaders are very concerned with the safety of the nation’s children and are trying to protect them from Civil Rights…I mean “guns”. What kind of a world will our children grow up in if we allow Equality and Civil Rights to get in the way of progress and security?

Can you truly understand the notion of Equality if you accept, in the name of the collective good, that some people have rights which you do not - or from a bureaucrat's perspective – that you have rights which others do not? Those that promote the virtues of collectivism are either those with extra rights, those that want to be, or those too foolish to know the difference.
