Branding 101 is clear: In order for your brand to get noticed, you need a commanding logo. In order for your logo to be powerful, it must be clear, tell a story, and induce an emotional response. A great logo can catapult a brand, while a misfire can result in disaster. Case in point: last year’s “Cooler & Warmer” tourism campaign debacle right here in Rhode Island, which cost the state’s chief marketing officer her job.

I had just turned nine when the Red Sox won their first world championship in 86 years. When the team broke the curse, the “bunch of idiots” took the world by storm. Since 2004, many faces have changed around the Red Sox clubhouse. With news of Gabe Kapler joining the Philadelphia Phillies as their new manager, another member of the team is still in baseball relevance today. In reality, there are quite a few players who still are worth talking about due to their post-playing careers.
Lucky the TurfMutt is a former street dog turned superhero who got a new "leash" on life when he was saved from a busy Indiana roadway by Kris Kiser, President and CEO of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI). Now, TurfMutt "paws it forward" as the official spokesdog for OPEI's environmental education and stewardship program for kids in grades K-5 and their families. Not only does TurfMutt tout the benefits of living landscapes, he also supports rescue organizations like Petfinder, which is sponsoring "Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month" in November.
With the combined silhouettes of a Bluebird and the current President, NewPCgadgets has created a one-of-a-kind Christmas tree ornament sure to be a conversation starter this Holiday season.
The new Trump Tweety Bird Ornament is designed to appeal to the disgruntled Democrats, demoralized Republicans and frustrated Liberals. Or, as NewPCgadgets says "About 85% of the population."
Last week was the Super Bowl rematch. A showdown between the high flying Atlanta Falcons offense with a high caliber defense, against a struggling Patriot defense. For the first time all season, I picked against New England. And I picked incorrectly.
Limiting the Falcons to only one touchdown, the Pats defense made a statement. While they still allowed 120 yards on the ground, Matt Ryan was limited to only 233 through the air. Being able to restrain the Falcons shows that this defense can play into the postseason to a level that will take at least some of the pressure off of Tom Brady. The pressure might still be on though, as they welcome the Los Angeles Chargers to Gillette Stadium. The Chargers are riding on a three game winning streak, having taken down the Giants, Raiders and Broncos. All three of those teams were considered potential playoff teams entering the season. |
