It’s one thing when fans heckle a professional athlete with the usual ‘You suck!/Overrated!’ heckling. It’s another thing when fans take it to the next level and create a situation where a physical altercation takes place (i.e. a fight or throwing something at an athlete). When that happens, you know that. Last Saturday, July 17, when the Boston Red Sox were in the Bronx taking on the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, a Yankees fan threw a baseball back onto the field (after swiping it from a Red Sox fan) and it hit Red Sox OF Alex Verdugo. The fan was promptly thrown out of the game and given a ‘lifetime ban’ as well. Before that months earlier, a Boston Celtics fan threw a water bottle at Brooklyn Nets PG Kyrie Irving as he was leaving the court after a 141-126 win against the Celtics in Round 1 of the NBA playoffs. As much as sports media outlets tried to portray both incidents (especially a major push by ESPN on the Kyrie water bottle incident) as the worst altercation of all-time between fans and an opposing player/coach, it makes you wonder…were they really? This week’s Top 5, we look at some of the worst altercation between a player and coach and fans. Scagz & Shayne first let you know if its worth it to pay Disney+ $29.99 for Black Widow spoiler free, then recap & review the movie with spoilers.

Providence mayor Jorge Elorza recently announced a pilot guaranteed income program is coming to the city, with 110 randomly-selected households receiving $500 a month. The program is great — but only because it’s privately funded. The $1.1 million price point for the program is being footed by local nonprofits, including the United Way of Rhode Island, Amos House, the Rhode Island Foundation, One Neighborhood Builders and the Dorcas Institute. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey will also be contributing $500,000 to the program as part of the $15 million he committed to universal basic income (UBI) projects across the US. Ryan L. Fox
Since former Vice President of Player Personnel Scott Pioli departed from the New England Patriots after the 2008 season to take a General Manager job with the Kansas City Chiefs, a majority (if not the entirety) of the roster building fell to de facto general manager of the team, Bill Belichick (who also happens to be the head coach as well). This also included scouting and drafting college players. From 2009 to present day, Belichick has drafted players that have been instrumental in the second half of the Patriots Dynasty (i.e. S Patrick Chung & WR Julian Edelman in 2009, FS Devin McCourty & TE Rob Gronkowski in 2010, LB Dont’a Hightower in 2012, G Joe Thuney in 2016). But with every good draft pick, there have been others that have failed expectations where they were drafted, a bust. Whether it they couldn’t click with the Patriots, were underperforming, or kept frequently getting injured, or any other circumstances, things didn’t work out as both sides had hoped.
