Free agency is an exciting time of the year. Players that used to be on your favorite team go somewhere else, and new players come to your favorite team by choice. It’s a wild period of time that can turnmake friends into enemies, and stars into snakes. The Boston Celtics need to make some moves now that Kyrie Irving is all but gone, as is Al Horford, and even Aron Baynes. The Celtics’ roster look very average at best. Allan Giberti
So, not only is my article late but it’s also not what I was originally going to write about. When you consider the humanitarian crisis at the Southern Border, in particular the children, it would obviously the thing to write about. They have already suffered having to endure the trek up here and now many of them have to be housed in detention centers that were not built to handle children. And then last night, right before I went on the air, the John Hopkins University Institute for Education’s report on Providence, RI’s public-school system hit the news and as expected it was abysmal. President Donald Trump has authorized a new round of stricter, tougher sanctions against Iran Monday, specifically targeting the rogue nation’s Supreme Leader, along with a handful of other individuals within the regime. This latest round of sanctions come amid new threats from within the Iranian military leadership to shoot down more U.S. drones, as they did just days ago over international waters in the Strait of Hormuz. Last year at this time, the talk of the Ocean State was the 2018 Gubernatorial race. Nine candidates- three Democrats, three Republicans, one Moderate, and two independents- did their best to show Rhode Islanders that they wanted to lead the state. That they wanted to dedicate themselves for the best interests of the people. That they would be taking a four year job in Rhode Island. One of those candidates has left. Mark Colley
While campaigns for the Democratic nomination for President have been underway since late last year, the pace of the race is just starting to pick up. Elizabeth Warren is gaining traction, front runners may be stumbling and tensions are rising between candidates in what has, until now, been a largely civil and predictable six months. |
