In Week 8, the New England Patriots traveled to Orchards Park, NY to face off against the Buffalo Bills hoping to end a 3-game losing streak. Instead, they limped away after losing 24-21 and fell to a paltry 2-5 while the Bills continued to climb up the standings and on top of the AFC East Divisional standings. Now with the 2020 NFL Season about to come to a close, the two teams met up in the last Monday night football game of the year at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. The Bills came in, already have clenched the AFC East Divisional title for the first time since 1995 while the Patriots were struggling to not go under .500 for the first time since 2000. Both teams had something to gain but in the end, only one team could hand their head up high while their opponent just wallowed in self-pity and the dirt. Ryan L. Fox

Donald Trump is the king of toothless remarks. Earlier this year, the president attempted to “defend free speech” on social media by removing protections for tech companies with an executive order — only for experts to call it a “long-shot legal bid.” Just this week, the House passed a veto-proof spending bill that did not repeal the protections. This past week saw another potentially-toothless executive order from Trump. The order vowed “to ensure that American citizens have first priority to receive American vaccines,” along with a contradictory statement that the US will “work with the world” to distribute COVID-19 vaccines. Two seasons ago, the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams squared off with another in Super Bowl LIII as it pitted a young up-and-coming coach in Sean McVay against the seasoned and future Hall-of-Famer coach in Bill Belichick. The Patriots ended up dominating and smothering the Rams for the game on the final score of 13-3 as many Fast forward to 2020, the McVay-led Rams hosted the Belichick-led Patriots in a Week 14 match-up at home in SoFI Stadium. Coming off a 45-0 drubbing of the Los Angeles Chargers in the same stadium this past Sunday, the Patriots had elected to stay in LA (they practiced at UCLA during the week) and were simply just waiting to play again against the Rams on Thursday night. But instead of getting the LA Sweep, the Patriots found themselves in a game where they were just simply outmuscled, outplayed, and were so thoroughly beaten and the so-called ‘Path to the Playoffs’ became even muddier. Governor Gina Raimondo has nominated Senator Erin Lynch-Prata to fill one of two vacancies on the R.I Supreme Court. Lynch-Prata’s nomination pushes back against the recommendation of the Ethics Commission’s staff, who determined that such an appointment would violate the revolving door prohibition. The revolving door prohibition bars sitting legislators from being selected for judgeships. It was established a generation ago, alongside the judicial-merit selection process, when two consecutive Rhode Island Supreme Court Chief Justices, themselves former legislators, resigned in disgrace.
