The Wild Side Episode #270 6/28/16 - It seems that all the U.S. political talk shows are talking about are #Brexit, #guncontrol, and #BenghaziReports. But much to the chagrin of those political talk shows, the Professor has been talking about those topics fr quite some time here on the WildSide.
Rotunda #66 6/27/16 - On this week's edition of the Rotunda hosted by Scott Rotundo it is a variable cornucopia of topics. Including the sensitive but hot topic of gun control, RI road conditions and the greatest holiday of all, Independence Day.
AAA Northeast projects nearly 43 million Americans will travel this Independence Day weekend, with close to 2.2 million of those travelers being from the New England area. This represents the highest Fourth of July travel volume on record and five million more travelers compared to Memorial Day weekend. The holiday travel period is defined as Thursday, June 30 to Monday, July 4.
“Spurred by the lowest gas prices since 2005, more people than ever are planning to travel this Independence Day weekend,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. “Whether they’re traveling by car, plane, train, or cruise ship, it will be exciting to see so many Americans celebrating our nation’s freedom with their friends and family over the long holiday weekend.” Grab your cameras and compose that picture! The City of Pawtucket and The Camera Werks of Providence announce the 18h Annual City of Pawtucket Photo Contest. The twelve winning photos, to be selected by a panel of local professional photographers, will illustrate the City of Pawtucket 2017 City Calendar.
This annual contest provides an opportunity to bring awareness to daily life, historic locations and the ever changing landscape of Pawtucket through the lens of a camera. The contest is open to residents and non-residents alike, but the photo must have been taken in Pawtucket. After a public call for photo contest themes was advertised in January, approximately 25 theme suggestions were received. The theme selected for this year’s contest is “Pawtucket’s Color Palette” submitted by Linda C. Dugas of Pawtucket. Here are the highlights from news and events that took place in the General Assembly this year.
