AAA Northeast’s February 27 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.21 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is eight cents below the national average of $2.29. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 47 cents lower at $1.74.

In honor of this momentous occasion, Rhode Island's favorite independent media outlet decided it's best to look forward, rather than ahead. Thus, Thursday evening, WBOB hosted its first-ever Influencers Charity Cocktail Gala to honor 9 Influencers to Watch in 2017. All proceeds for the event will be donated to Potter League for Animals. WBOB's Board of Directors poured through dozens of potential candidates from the arts, humanities, media, sports, and community, we identified 9 individuals as significantly noteworthy, and representative of the potential for great accomplishment in the coming year – and beyond. Rhode Island State Police arrested two people and seized more than five kilograms of cocaine worth an estimated $150,000 after a traffic stop on Route 95 about 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

Espinal, 32, of 19 Grand St., Providence, and Laura Martinez, 24, of 14 Atlantic Ave., Providence, were charged with possession with intent to deliver more than a kilo of cocaine; possession of cocaine; and conspiracy. Espinal also was charged with driving with a suspended license and was issued a citation for driving a car with a suspended registration. |
