It is a long, loooong season - baseball. But this is a short, shooooort article -- assembled to lay out my 7 Bold Predictions for the 2018 MLB Season.
A federal grand jury in Providence returned an indictment today charging a Scituate man with corruptly endeavoring to impede the internal revenue laws, tax evasion, and perjury, announced Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Richard E. Zuckerman of the Justice Department’s Tax Division and U.S. Attorney Stephen G. Dambruch for the District of Rhode Island.
According to the indictment, from 2005 through 2016, Billie Schofield worked for local fishing companies and earned hundreds of thousands of dollars in income. The indictment alleges that Schofield obstructed the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) efforts to collect and assess his unpaid taxes by filing false income tax returns, preventing the delivery of IRS levy notices to his employer, and sending bogus checks to the IRS in a fraudulent attempt to pay off an IRS lien placed on his property. 
In response to the Trump Administration’s persistent attack on women’s reproductive freedom, a group of male Rhode Island state representatives joined the growing chorus calling for passage of the Reproductive Health Care Act and legislation to protect access to contraception.
“We are proud cosponsors of the Reproductive Health Care Act,” said Rep. Jason Knight (D-Dist. 67, Barrington, Warren). “We, as men, stand behind women and acknowledge that they should have complete control of their bodies and their own medical decisions. It is urgent for the Rhode Island General Assembly to act now.”
