Despite lower gas prices, a new AAA study reveals that consumer interest in electric vehicles remains high, with the survey showing that more than 30 million Americans are likely to buy an electric vehicle for their next car. With rising sales, longer ranges and lower costs, AAA predicts a strong future for electric vehicles, and announces the top electric, hybrid and other efficient vehicles in its independent, rigorous test-track evaluation.
“With their lower ownership costs and compatibility with emerging autonomous technologies, electric vehicles are poised to be a key vehicle of the future,” said John Paul, AAA Northeast Senior Manager of Traffic Safety. “Tesla -- a standout in AAA’s evaluations -- has helped widen the appeal of electric vehicles by showing they can be stylish, performance-focused and filled with cutting-edge technology.” Despite the fact that gas prices are about 40 percent lower than five years ago, AAA found that consumer interest in electric vehicles and hybrids has not waned. In fact, the number of Americans interested in an electric vehicle approaches the number planning to purchase a pickup truck, with the survey showing that 15 percent are likely to buy an electric vehicle for their next car. Millennials are even more accepting of electric vehicles, with nearly one-in-five interested in going electric for their next car. Kevin Aherne
Tim Davis wasn't a musician, at least not formally. But if you talk to any local musician in Providence, Rhode Island, they knew Tim Davis. In what can be described as a cannibalistic culture, Tim Davis was one of only a few individuals in the Providence music scene who fought against the tide to bring everyone together. For Tim, it was all about the music. And to Tim, the music was all about community, expression, love, and happiness. Tim passed away Saturday, far ahead of his time, leaving behind a gaping hole in the community. But, in his absence, we will all fill that hole with the love, care, and vivacity that Tim showed to everyone in his life.
Here are the highlights from news and events that took place in the General Assembly this week.

Am I a genius? Not according to my GPA (3.0, I’m average baby!), but when it comes to sports, I know my stuff. In January, I made 9 Bold Sports Predictions for 2017. So far, I haven’t been completely wrong. Numbers four and five were centered around a baseball player a lot of people outside of the most passionate fans had never heard of. Nippon Professional Baseball star Shohei Otani is expected to come to the big leagues soon. He’s considered to be Babe Ruth, and this is with him facing much tougher competition than Ruth did during the early 1900s. This guy can legitimately be considered the best baseball player in the world. So who is Shohei Otani? What makes this no-name so great?
Charlie Murphy, was at one point best known as Eddie Murphy's brother. But now, having developed his own identity, the elder Murphy brother is most closely associated with Chappelle's Show, specifically the Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories skits involving Rick James.
Murphy passed away Wednesday at age 57 following a long battle with Leukemia. In his honor, we present perhaps his greatest work. Watch the hillarious video below... and Rest in Peace, Charlie Murphy! |
