Welcome PawSox fans of all ages to WBOB’s PawSox Weekly Notebook, a weekly guide to all what’s happening with your Pawtucket Red Sox. That’s enough of the pleasantries so let’s get down to business. It was a busy week for the PawSox. Between Hall-of-Fame inductions, doubleheaders, and snapping losing streaks, you were in for a treat. Not to mention that on Sunday, June 23, marked the 38th year of the ‘Longest Game’ in baseball history. All this and more here on the PawSox Weekly Notebook.

There is nothing quite like taking a ballgame on a warm, summer day. At McCoy, 5,284 watched their hometown Pawtucket Red Sox take on the Indianapolis Indians for the series finale. The Indians took the series opener on Friday night on the final score of 4-3 while the PawSox took the Saturday night rubber match on the final score of 3-0. Taking the mound for the PawSox on Sunday was RHP Ryan Weber (1-2, 7.36), looking to help his team get the win and the series victory. The Pirates countered with RHP Jordan Lyles, who was on an injury rehab assignment for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Allan Giberti
On Wednesday, June 19th the RI Senate voted passage on the Reproductive Privacy Act, previously called the Reproductive Healthcare Act. No matter what you call it, it’s just a dressed-up name for legalizing late term abortion. It was then transmitted to the RI House, where it passed and was immediately signed by Governor Gina Raimondo. Christian Martinelli
Every team in every sport needs a guy that can do a little bit of everything. In basketball you’d hope for someone that can defend, pass, score, and lead a group of men. Not many players possess all those important attributes, but one Celtics player was the embodiment of that player, Al Horford.

There are 3 certain things in life in 2019: death, taxes, and the Pawtucket Red Sox playing a doubleheader. On Wednesday, the PawSox played their 10th doubleheader of the 2019. This time, it was against the visiting Durham Bulls, the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays Originally scheduled to be a 7:05 p.m. game, Wednesday was turned into a doubleheader due to Tuesday night’s game being postponed due to a rainout. So you had Game 1 scheduled at 5:05 p.m. followed by a 30-minute intermission and then Game 2 afterwards. |
