Ding Dong! No, that's not an alarm clock going off. In fact, it's not representative of any sound -- but rather, it's an adjective describing the administration for the Irving Independent School District, parent to MacArthur High School in Texas, which made headlines this week for suspending and contacting police after a Muslim student, Ahmed Mohammed, brought to school a science project which was mistaken for a bomb. It was a clock. Read the School District's Ridiculous Response Below

URI Professor of Economics The magic number is now up to five - for five consecutive months, the Current Conditions Index (CCI) has either matched or exceeded its year-earlier value. July was yet another very good month for Rhode Island, as its overall economic performance continued to improve and its labor market appears to be sustaining the kind of momentum we haven’t seen for a while now. Now that the secret is out and we know that former State Representative Donald Lally is working on the Governors’ administration making more than $87,000, can he please pay back the town of Narragansett, which had to hold a special election after he abruptly resigned from office in March just months after being re-elected? Not only was the resignation outrageous and costly for the town, which had to hold a special election, but now we find out it might have been a political trick. Lally probably knew he wanted to get a job working on the Governor’s administration but at the same time he couldn’t risk losing his seat to a (gasp) Republican, so he ran, got the seat, and then let it go to a special election where it would all come down to voter turnout, a political skill the Democrats have mastered. In a special election the Republicans stood no shot. Kevin Aherne
September 11, 2001 had a profound effect on my life. No, none of my family members were on board any of the flights that departed Logan International Airport. And no, I had no friends or no acquaintances who worked on the 87th floor of the World Trade Center. But still, the events of September 11, 2001, humbled me. Memories from that morning will always be ingrained in my soul, and have helped shape the man I am today. |
