USA basketball has been notoriously dominating the sport and all international contests for the entire history of basketball. The only time the US hasn’t won a gold medal in the Olympics was 1972, 1980, 1988, 2004, and coming into this 2019 FIBA basketball world cup the US had won 58 consecutive games without a loss. Well it’s the battle cry that’s been going on for the past week among Patriots fans of, “Squish the Fish!” prior to the New England Patriots’ Week 2 matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Miami, Florida. It was also the site of last year’s “Miami Miracle” where the Dolphins scored the game winning touchdown to beat the Patriots 34-33. But that was 2018, this was 2019. The Dolphins were reeling from their 59-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 while the Patriots were coming off a 33-3 blowout victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. Everybody predicted the Patriots to simply obliterate their AFC East divisional rivals by obscure scores (some predicted 109-0). While the Patriots did drop a ton of the points on the Dolphins, it was their defense that led the way and ultimately “Squish the Fish.” Scott Rotondo
As a connoisseur of all things Pawtucket, I am naturally drawn to my city’s thriving craft brewing and distilling community – the best in Rhode Island by an order of magnitude. Smug Brewing, on Carver Street in Pawtucket, has a variety of tasty brews that can be enjoyed or taken home in growlers and cans form their spacious tasting room. Mark Colley
On Monday, Donald Trump joked about extending his term past 2024 — again. Speaking with FIFA President Gianni Infantino outside the White House, Trump said, “Gianni, we're going to have to extend my second term because 2026 — I'm going to have to extend it for a couple of years.” His comment referred to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in North America. |
