Last week’s announcement that the Rhode Island’s chapter of the Republican Governor’s Association was pulling television ads that supported Cranston Mayor Allan Fung served as the clearest indication to date that the governor’s race was essentially a lock for Democrat incumbent, Gina Raimondo. The cancelled ad spots, which sought to bolster Mr. Fung’s existing statewide base of support, along with a pair of recent polls that showed that the Republican nominee was trailing the Governor by as much as 14%, suggest a grim outlook for the Fung camp going into the homestretch of the election.

“Four more years! Four more years!” That chant won’t be heard in a traditionally liberal city like Boston when Donald Trump’s bid for reelection begins following the midterm elections. But to some Bostonians, four more years of Trump might be preferred to four more years of something else. Concluding this postseason, the Boston Red Sox will be positioned based upon the actions of one pitcher. A fan favorite-to-hate since signing with the team, it looks likely that David Price will exercise his option to remain with the the 2018 American League champions for another four seasons following the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Here are 5 reasons why David Price exercising his option might not be as bad as you’d think:

It’s a two party system in America. In any large political race, it’s between two people: the Republican and the Democrat. In a time where a lot of people aren’t identifying with a particular party, that might change. Luis Daniel Muñoz, an independent, is attempting to become only the second Rhode Island governor without affiliation to either major party since the civil war.

So far it’s been a Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde season when it comes to the New England Patriots. At home, they are undefeated with a perfect 4-0 and have looked like the Belichick Patriots of old. However when they go on the road, it seems like they revert back to the Schaffer Stadium Patriots of old with blowout losses in Jacksonville in Week 2 and Detroit in Week 3. For Week 7, they traveled to the Wind City of Chicago for a match up against the Chicago Bears. However the team would be traveling without two key offensive players (All-Pro TE Rob Gronkowski (back) and RT Marcus Cannon (concussion)). Against a hungry Bears team, the Patriots were going to be in a hostile environment on the road. However in the Windy City, the winds were able to push the Patriots in the direction that they wanted to go.

The date is January 28, 1996, the Dallas Cowboys have just defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers by the score of 27–17, and won- what was at the time- a record tying fifth Super Bowl victory. That was the last time that “America’s Team” has been at the top of the football world. |
