28 RIPTA Routes, 4 Bus Stops Moved to Accommodate Obama Visit

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour twenty-eight bus routes and temporarily relocate Bus Stops A, B, C and D in the downtown Providence area beginning at 7:30pm on Thursday, October 30 through 10:30am on Friday, October 31, 2014 in order to accommodate the Presidential visit. All RIPTA bus lines are to expect minor delays around Kennedy Plaza. 

While this detour is in effect, Bus Stops A, B, C and D will be temporarily relocated from Sabin Street to Fountain Street. Also, Providence Schools students who normally board on Sabin Street will board at Bus Stop H instead. 
The following routes will detour from 7:30pm on Thursday, October 30 through 10:30am on Friday, October 3, 2014: 6, 8, 10X, 12X, 14, 14 Express, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 30, 33, 35, 50, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59X, 65X, 66, 92 West, 95X and the R-Line. 

Route 6 (Prairie/R.W.Zoo): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Broad and Empire Streets, left onto Empire Street, and then right onto Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop B. 

Outbound trips will leave Fountain Street via a right onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto Empire Street, right onto Broad Street, and then resume regular route. 

Route 8 (Jefferson Blvd): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I- 95 North, right at the Broadway Exit, right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, left onto Exchange Street, and then left onto Exchange Terrace to Bus Stop F. 

Outbound trips will take a left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto Service Road through to I-95 South, and then resume regular route. 

Route 9 (Pascoag): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Rte. 6-10 to the Dean St. Exit, right onto Dean Street, left onto Atwells Avenue through to Broadway through to LaSalle Square, then right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, and then left onto Steeple to Bus Stop N. 

Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop N via Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, right onto Service Road, left onto Broadway, right onto Tobey Street through to Rte. 6 North, and then resume regular route. 

Route 10X (North Scituate): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Exchange Terrace; this is the last stop. 

Route 12X (Arctic/Rte. 117): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-95 North and the Broadway Exit, right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Weybosset Street, and then resume regular route. 

Route 14 (West Bay): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-95 North, right at the Broadway Exit, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, left onto Exchange Street, and then left onto Exchange Terrace to Bus Stop H. 

Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop H, left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, and then left onto Service Rd through to I-95 South. 

Route 14 EXPRESS (West Bay): Please refer to the Route 12X (Arctic/Rte. 117) detour. 

Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Westminster Street and Service Road, left onto Service Road, right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, and then left onto Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop A. 

Outbound trips will leave Fountain Street via a right onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto Service Road, right onto Westminster Street and then resume regular route. 

Route 18 (Union Ave.): Please refer to the Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) detour. 

Route 19 (Plainfield/Westminster): Please refer to the Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) detour. 

Route 20 (Elmwood Ave.): Please refer to the Route 6 (Prairie/R.W.Zoo) detour. 

Route 21 (Reservoir Ave./Garden City): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Rte. 10 North, right at the Dean Street Exit, right onto Dean Street, left onto Atwells Avenue, left onto Broadway through to LaSalle Square, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, left onto Exchange Street, and then left onto Exchange Terrace. 

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace via a left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, right onto Service Road, left onto Broadway, right onto Tobey Street through to Rte. 10 South and then resume regular route. 

Route 22 (Pontiac Ave.): Please refer to the Route 6 (Prairie/R.W.Zoo) detour. 

Route 27 (Broadway/Manton): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Broadway and Empire Streets, right onto Empire Street, and then left onto Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop C. 

Outbound trips will leave Fountain Street via a right onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, right onto Service Road, left onto Broadway, and then resume regular route. 

Route 28 (Broadway/Hartford): Please refer to the Route 27 (Broadway/Manton) detour. 

Route 30 (Arlington/Oaklawn): Please refer to the Route 21 (Reservoir Ave./Garden City) detour. 

Route 33 (Riverside): Inbound trips will travel the regular route. 

Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace, left Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, and then resume regular route. 

Route 35 (Rumford): Please refer to the Route 33 (Riverside) detour. 

Route 50 (Douglas Ave.): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of State and Smith Streets, left onto Smith Street, right onto Canal Street, and then right onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace. 

Outbound trips will take a left onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, left onto N. Main Street, left onto Smith Street, and then resume regular route. 

Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket): Inbound trips will travel the regular route. 

Outbound trips will take a right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Washington Street, left onto North Main Street through to Charles Street, left onto the Rte. 146 North on-ramp, and then resume regular route. 

Route 55 (Admiral/Prov College): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Canal and Smith Streets, continue on Canal Street, and then right onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace. 

Outbound trips will take a right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Washington Street, left onto North Main Street, and then resume regular route. 

Route 56 (Chalkstone Ave.): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Smith and Gaspee Streets; continue on Smith Street, right onto Canal Street, right onto Steeple Street, and then right onto Exchange Street to Bus Stop L. 

Outbound trips will take a right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Washington Street, left onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, and then resume regular route. 

Route 57 (Smith Street): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Smith and Gaspee Streets; continue on Smith Street, right onto Canal Street, right onto Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, right onto Empire Street, and then right onto Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop B. 

Outbound trips will take a right Exchange Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Washington Street, left onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 58 (Mineral Spring/North Prov): Inbound trips will travel the regular route. 

Outbound trips will take a right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Washington Street, left onto N. Main Street through to Charles Street, left onto the on-ramp to Rte. 146 North, and then resume regular route. 

Route 59X (North Smithfield/Lincoln Express): Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Exchange Terrace; this is the last stop. 

Route 65X (Wakefield Express): Please refer to the Route 12X (Arctic/Rte. 117) detour. 

Route 66 (URI/Galilee): Please refer to the Route 14 (West Bay) detour. 

Route 92 WEST (Federal Hill/East Side): Inbound trips will travel the regular route. 

Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Steret, right onto Service Road, left onto Atwells Avenue, and then resume regular route. 

Route 95X (Westerly Park N’ Ride): Please refer to the Route 12X (Arctic/Rte. 117) detour. 

R-Line SOUTH (Broad/North Main): Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto Empire Street, and then resume regular route.
