Electric suppliers would have new guidelines to follow in their dealings with customers and potential customers, and consumers will have a clearer view of their rights in dealing with these competitive energy supply companies under legislation introduced by Rep. Brian Patrick Kennedy (D-Dist. 38, Hopkinton, Westerly).
The “Electric Supplier Consumer Bill of Rights,” 2015-H 5978, would impose a series of regulatory requirements upon the electrical generation and distribution industry for the protection of consumers. It outlines various kinds of information that would have to be provided to consumers and sets procedures for the sale and solicitation of electric generation services by an electric supplier.
Focusing on the health benefits that have come from similar adoption elsewhere, Rep. Teresa Tanzi (D-Dist. 34, South Kingstown, Narragansett) testified yesterday before the House Committee on Health, Education and Welfare in support of her proposed legislation that would increase the minimum age for tobacco purchases in Rhode Island from 18 to 21.
The legislation (2015-H 5225) would apply to all forms of tobacco and non-medical nicotine delivery systems, and would take effect immediately upon passage.

Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), a progressive fixture of gerrymandered Chicago politics, is a race-baiting rabble-rouser who opposes President Obama for not going far enough on immigration “reform”. The brown version of “Crazy Black Lady” Maxine Waters, the male version of statist, regressive partisans Barbara Lee and Sheila Lee Jackson (without the lollipops), Gutierrez has traveled across the country justifying and expounding upon President Obama’s illegal, unconstitutional, and unconscionable executive amnesty. A young girl was struck by a RIPTA bus Thursday morning on Smith Street in Providence, just a few blocks west of the Rhode Island State House. The young girl later died from her injuries.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), in partnership with the URI Transportation Center, will host a roundtable discussion with municipal leaders on pothole repair Thursday. The goal of the meeting is to discuss potential collaborations that will help expedite roadway repairs throughout Rhode Island.
"My administration is committed to working collaboratively with cities and towns to address critical infrastructure needs," Governor Gina Raimondo said. "The condition of our state's transportation system affects Rhode Islanders' quality of life and can have far-reaching effects on our economy. We need to improve our roads, and tomorrow's roundtable is another step in that direction." |
