The Asian Republican Coalition (ARC) today officially endorsed Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, the three-term mayor of Rhode Island’s 3rd largest city and Republican Gubernatorial candidate for Rhode Island, for the 2014 election cycle because he shares our agenda regarding issues that are central to the comprehensive Asian American community. “Mayor Fung believes in creating and building upon strong relationships within the comprehensive Asian American community in Rhode Island and across the United States,” said ARC Chairman John J. Ying. “We are pleased to see that the Mayor is pushing for an agenda based on education, merit, opportunity, personal freedom, entrepreneurship and family. Allan’s parents came to the United States to pursue the American Dream and Allan is living proof that hard work and determination pay off,” continued Ying. “Mayor Fung turned around the City of Cranston and we know he’ll do the same for Rhode Island. Allan is a great role model for the Asian American community,” ended Ying. ARC serves as a voice for the comprehensive Asian American community. It is comprised of individuals of Asian ancestry, mixed ethnic heritage and those who are vested through family or close personal relationships, business, education or other cultural reasons. Its membership represents all Americans — located in both the United States and abroad — which seeks to constructively engage in the political process. |
