Independent candidate for Providence Mayor Vincent A. Cianci, Jr. has been endorsed by Defenders of Animals, a Providence-based organization whose mission is to defend the inalienable rights of both companion animals and wildlife through education, legal, and legislative activism.
Cianci said, “If elected, I will look forward to working closely with Dennis Tabella and the volunteers at Defenders of Animals to ensure that the Providence Animal Control Center is properly resourced and staffed to care for its animal visitors in the most humane way possible. In this day and age, there is no reason to euthanize adoptable animals. I will work to make Providence Animal Control a no kill shelter by fostering partnerships with rescue organizations and volunteers, implementing a comprehensive adoption program, and investing in ways to educate the general public about the proper care of pets.”
Defenders of Animals has been working for animal rights since founded by Dennis and Patricia Tabella in 1978. Their services include low cost spay/ neuter clinics, pet adoption, legal assistance, and advocacy on behalf of stray and abandoned animals and wildlife.
“I’m proud to endorse Buddy Cianci for Mayor of Providence,” said Defenders of Animals Executive Director Dennis Tabella. “Buddy has always shown a commitment to animals in his past administrations, and I look forward to him embracing the principals of no kill shelters, making Providence a model for other cities in humane animal control.”
