The future of a new Federal Hill establishment is in question following a unanimous vote but the Providence Board of Licenses to suspend the license of The $3 Bar on Atwells Avenue in Providence. The bar, which sells all of its drinks and food items for three dollars, has had a series of recent incidents involving violence, one in which resulted in the death of a 34-year old man. Sunday, Jonathan Stack of Providence, succumbed to his injuries after being beaten with a 2 x 4 in the alley behind the bar Wednesday night, allegedly by 48-year old Daniel Lastarza. There was another incident this weekend, described as a brawl, which resulted to the arrests of two Warwick women. The board moved to suspend the bar's license, effective as of Sunday at 6 pm. There will be another meeting on Wednesday to determine the future of the bar's license. |
