Allan Giberti On Sunday June 28, 2020, a mob of approximately 100 Black Lives Matter and Antifa “protesters” decided to take their demonstration right to the home of St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson and demand her resignation. In order to do this, the protesters would have to break through a gate and trespass on private property, which they did without hesitation. Along the way they ran into Mark and Patricia McCloskey. Mark and Patricia McCloskey are, of course, the St. Louis couple who went viral when videos of them defending their home with legally owned firearms from a mob that stormed their property hit social media. The same mob who threatened to burn down their home, kill them and kill their dog. Immediately the left and the media began painting the BLM and Antifa mob, the ones who broke the law, as the victims and the McCloskey’s, the ones who broke no laws, as the criminals. St. Louis Prosecutor Kimberly Gardner (who is a Democrat... shocker) said, “I am alarmed at the events that occurred over the weekend, where peaceful protestors were met by guns… We must protect the right to peacefully protest, and any attempt to chill it through intimidation or threat of deadly force will not be tolerated.” Did anyone else miss the memo where it states that criminal acts committed during a protest (violent or not) are no longer criminal? If you were to follow this backwards logic, I would be able to go anywhere, even if I had to destroy property to do so, all without recourse as long as it was under the banner of protesting. Sadly, you really don’t have to call for people to commit acts of violence and destruction when you have Democrats in positions of power justifying it and vilifying those who are caught up in its wake. Despite the fact that the McCloskey’s didn’t break any laws, a search warrant was secured resulting in the seizure of Mark’s rifle. One of the many things that the media fails to tell you is that the McCloskey’s were once again the target of an angry mob only this time they had to rely on private security, and even some help from President Trump, to keep them and their property safe. Now both Mark and Patricia are facing felony charges for “unlawful use of a weapon” and a misdemeanor charge for fourth degree assault. The Democrats and the media purposely twist the truth and leave out facts that contradict their fake “ending gun violence” narrative. They then leave the fear mongering to their minion organizations like Moms Demand Action. What do you get when you selectively omit certain truths, facts and statistics and replace them with outright lies, civil rights killing propaganda and programs aimed at instilling fear and terror in our children. all with zero accountability? Moms Demand Action, that’s what you get. A post on the Moms Demand Action – RI Facebook page referencing the McCloskey’s scheduled appearance at the Republican National Convention reads, “The McCloskey’s are facing felony charges after pointing guns at peaceful Black Lives Matter protestors in their St. Louis neighborhood. Tonight, they will speak at the Republican National Convention. Elect leaders who reject gun extremism, not embrace it.” The Moms fail to mention that Missouri AG Schmitt is involved and seeking dismissal of the charges, Missouri Governor Mike Parson has said he will pardon the McCloskey’s if they are charged and Senator Josh Hawley has asked Attorney General Bill Barr to open an investigation into the prosecution against them. Just a lie of omission but still a lie. The Moms refer to the Black Lives Matter protesters as being peaceful. This raises an obvious question, does the current accepted definition of the word “peaceful” now include damaging private property, trespassing, threatening to destroy more private property as well as threatening bodily harm and death to someone and their pets? Where I’m from, we would call that the exact opposite of peaceful. What the mob did was not peaceful then again, not many mobs are known for inciting peace. The reality is, it has been so unpeaceful. that Mayor Krewson and her husband have not lived in their gated community residence for over two month because of the protests. In a statement, the reason the mayor gave for the move was because they wanted to “… Deescalate the situation, to save police resources, and, importantly, because our neighbors were being disturbed and threatened.” “Deescalate, police resources, disturbed” and “threatened” are not words one normally associates with most peaceful activities. Somehow we find ourselves in some Bizarro world where people are telling you one scenario happened by using words to describe the opposite of that scenario. It’s not a semantics or a vocabulary issue, it’s a flat out lie. The “… in their St. Louis neighborhood” part is another lie by the omission of the simple, obvious and irrefutable fact that “their” neighborhood is a private gated community. You have to acknowledge that before you can even begin to talk about the McCloskey’s “gun pointing,” the “protesters” had to break the law in the first place. As far as electing “leaders who reject gun extremism, not embrace it,” I’m on board with that. Do I think we should be handing out firearms like Democrats with a postal truck full of mail-in ballots? Absolutely not and I’m not aware of any elected leaders who are calling for anything remotely like that. The only leaders advocating for any type of “gun extremism” sit on the left who routinely take advantage of people’s suffering and the loss of life by twisting the truth into propaganda and talking points to push a political agenda. These same leaders further victimize actual victims by boldly lying, beating their chests and right on cue weep uncontrollably as they work to disarm law abiding Americans at any cost. Not one of us would find it remotely acceptable if we discovered that our children were spreading damning and vile lies about others simply for their own gain. So, here’s what I don’t get: If we wouldn’t let our children behave this way, why are we letting the Moms? Allan Giberti is the host of RI Red Radio on 990WBOB.com.
